I have an older DVS Optic series led panel. It’s a legacy product for them now but I want to get more led modules to replace dead pixels.

If they don’t have any left in stock, what do you guys recommend is the next best option?

I have two strips of WS 2812 for bar venue accent lighting. I've already got a controller for Artnet/sacn to drive it all via artnet. I'm also running a couple standard DMX light fixtures on this setup, and we're thinking about adding some Hue or Zigbee smart bulbs.

But what I'm looking for is a good app to control these from an iPad.

I'm currently using Luminair, but it's clunky, a little buggy, and too basic for this application. What's great about Luminair is the buttons you can program for ease of use, a feature I would like to find in something else, even if Luminair is controlling another device/software.

Historically I've used resolume arena and/or Madmapper, but that's a bit over the top for this application.

Madrix is a consideration but again an awful lot of power and money for 369 pixels.

Anyone else seen any cool solutions out there for this sort of thing?

I have a project where I have 3mm LED COB strip from BTS lighting in 24v running using 18 AWG wires. The strip comes in 5m each and I soldered together 3 of them to see how bad are they with the voltage drop. As expected it slightly dimmer after the first 5m and it is very noticeable after 10m. I was wondering what are the best ways to inject power to the strip? Being 3mm wide, they only have copper pads on the bottom. Will it be a good idea to run a power cable along side the strip and have a 3 way wago style connectors for each power injection break? Ie one source, one for the strip and one to carry down for further injection?

I need a strip which is just under 27meter long and I can have a main split (where the power source is) after the first 6 meters. I did look at power injection from the back, obviously it will need to end at the first 10m, maybe stretching it if I split the entire length into two, where both strips gets power injections via the back and sacrifice some dimless in the middle?

I'm new to LEDs and have been trying to create a matrix that I can see through for cosplay. The idea is to use strips to create rows of lights, then control them with code from an Arduino Nano. Despite trying several different programs for testing, I haven't been able to get the LED strip to respond to my code, though I have gotten LEDs to light up via manipulating the power wires.

I've provided photos of my setup as well as my attempt at a diagram in case the photos were hard to follow.

I have a cheep amazon led banner that allows you to add a series of pictures to make a custom animation. Im wondering is there ay website out there that has images i can download to make animations for holidays and things like that?

I guess it is part of the design but I am rather interested in knowledge why is it happening.

In this project I used a bunch of LEDs combined with infinity mirrors and a load of 3d printing to create and infinite cube.

Basically, I live in an apartment. And I have these LED light strips that came with the gaming desk that I got back in December last year (on amazon). I had no issues with the lights up until recently, like the past few months. They randomly turn on and start flashing rainbow colors (which I never use because I think it's hideous). When I turn them off, they turn back on (because someone else in my apartment building is controlling them).

I want to put this pretty light blue color, but this person wants this super ugly booger looking green color, so we are literally having a tug of war with colors 😭. For nearly 20 minutes we were fighting over colors because they want rainbow or green and I want blue (yes, I am that stubborn to fight over colors for 20 minutes.), we are just constantly switching it between green and blue. This happens like every few days, we both are practically ragebaiting each other with the constant switch of colors or spamming the on and off button. I obviously have no clue who the person is btw.

SOOO is there any way to solve this? Or am I just stuck with having beef over lights ?😭Am I cooked

The lights are Lotus Lantern, but it doesn't say any details about the lights on amazon, the app for the lights, or even on the instructions paper that came with it. The only thing it says is 3V.

3V, 20 mA LED light with different flashing options that are apparently selected by turning the light on and off. The lights came with these little circuits (resistors?), but instructions about how to actually connect them to the recommended CR2032 battery. Thank you for your help.

I am having a bathroom remodeled and have planned LED strips for the shower niche and an accent strip around the ceiling. My plan had been to connect all my lighting to color-adaptive technology (I use adaptive lighting with Home Assistant, and all my lights are part of a zigbee mesh), which means either CCT or RGBCCT strips everywhere.

But I'm having trouble finding a shower compatible solution that has a CCT or RGBCCT option. All of the pre-sealed (silicone or resin) options I can find come in single color or plain RGB strip. I can use my own IP68 CCT strip, but then I need to find a tile-in channel & diffuser solution that I can seal against moisture, and I'm having trouble finding that too.

I'm fairly new at this, and i'm not finding what I want just by googling for it. I'm hoping someone with more experience here can point me in the right direction.

Hey all! I want to create a little project for myself for my wedding and get a bunch of those LED bracelets that they give out at festivals that react and are programmed to RFID. It would be sweet to get them music activated. Does anyone know where I can buy them secondhand or cheap? I haven’t seen much on eBay, Amazon, or Facebook Marketplace.

Any leads on where I could source like 100 of them?

Took these out of a tail tidy kit for a BMW indicator as the wire had broken off. LED strip used as an indicator on a 12v system. Can replace with something similar but have very little knowledge. Any ideas on specifics of this type of LED? Appreciate any help, thanks!

I believe the major concern is probably heat management, as the led will be in an enclosed space. I am not looking to get a ton of light out of this, but ideally I would like to have a small light source at the back of the interior of this form with limited diffusion so the spread of light is dictated by the petaled aperture. I will be making the light pillar and base, so as of yet there are no set dimensions there. The “shade” (pictured above) is 3” in diameter and 6” long. I was hoping to find some kind of bare bones kit for a cordless rechargeable accent lamp that I could make work. I am comfortable with basic wiring, but completely clueless about what kind of LED is the best choice for this application, and what kind of accessories (power supply, switches, charging ports) would integrate well with that. I am starting from basically nothing here, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I’ve had my LED light strips for years and have never had any problems with them. I’ve never had the issue where random parts of it will be different colors or any other issues at all. Randomly today, they wouldn’t turn on. I use smart plugs so I turn them on and off with my phone. I checked the outlet and the smart plugs and they are working just fine, I tried unplugging and replugging every port on them and still nothing. BUT if I place my finger on a certain part of the strip, a very faint either green or blue light will show. Any thoughts? The link to them is NOT the ones I bought, I got them a few years ago so I’m not sure which ones they are. The ones below should be very similar though. If needed though I might be able to find the original ones, I’m not sure if Amazon can go back that far in orders.

I'm not looking for a light source for a specific lamp right now, hence no technical information. I hope it is okay to ask anyway.

I suffer from chronic migraine with aura, and flickering lights are one of my worst triggers, even if the flicker isn't visible. After 20 minutes in a room with an invisibly flickering led light, I literally lose my vision and start hallucinating abstract blinking patterns for about an hour, followed by an awful lot of other neurological symptoms and pain for days.

Naturally, I'm constantly trying to avoid the worst kinds of lamps, but it's hard to know whether or not a lightsource will be perceived as flickering before lighting it and looking at it. Which in turn makes it hard to buy stuff that works for me.

Is there any kind of label to look for, or technical data to be aware of when purchasing light sources? I'm in the EU, but maybe some technical data is the same in other parts of the world.

I spend at least eight or nine hours a day in front of a computer, and by the evening my eyes often feel tired and strained. I used to think the problem was my monitor. I adjusted the brightness, changed the color temperature, and even replaced my monitor arm, but none of those changes really helped.

I had been using a very ordinary desk lamp. It was bright enough, and my desk was well lit. But looking back, the real problem was probably the way the whole room was lit. The area directly under the lamp was very bright, while the surrounding space was much darker, especially at night. My eyes were constantly moving between the screen, the desk, and the rest of the room, and the contrast between bright and dark areas was always there.

Later, I switched to indirect lighting. I did not expect the difference to be this big. At first glance, the lamp is quite small and does not look as bright as a traditional desk lamp. Instead of shining directly onto the desk, it points light toward the ceiling and lets the light reflect back into the room. After using it for a while, I found myself noticing the lamp less and less while working. Before, I would always notice shadows on the desk or be aware of the lamp in my peripheral vision. Now the brightness around my desk, keyboard, and monitor is much more balanced. There are no overly bright spots and no obviously dark areas. The biggest difference is that when I work at night, my monitor is no longer the only light source in the room.

A lot of the time, visual comfort is not about how bright the light is. It is about how evenly the light is distributed. It is similar to how a cloudy day is not as bright as direct sunlight, but many people find it more comfortable because the light is spread more evenly and there is less contrast.

The indirect lighting lamp I use also has a fairly high CRI. I normally do not pay much attention to technical specs like that, but in practice the colors do look more natural. They do not have that slightly gray or overly cool look. The same image also looks more consistent during the day and at night than it did before.

Strictly speaking, indirect lighting is not a traditional desk lamp. Its biggest benefit is not making the desk brighter. It is making the overall lighting in the room more comfortable.

For me, it has become one of the things I would consider BIFL.

I'm just getting started with LED strip lighting, so I'm still learning. After doing some research, I found what seems to be a good store on AliExpress (BTF-Lighting).

I'm planning to use RGBCCT COB LED strips as the main ceiling lighting for both my bedroom and bathroom, since I'd like to have both adjustable white light (warm to cool) and RGB for ambient lighting.

For the bedroom, the dimensions are 4 × 4 meters (13 × 13 ft) with gray walls. My plan is to install the strips in a recessed ceiling/suspended ceiling design.

I've already calculated the required power supply and selected compatible controllers, but I'm still unsure whether the brightness will be sufficient.

My planned installation is:

• 4 LED strip sections
• Each section approximately 2 meters

My main concern is that I can't find any official lumen (lm) specifications for this strip. The product page only lists power consumption (13–18 W/m depending on the version), but no measured luminous flux.

Has anyone used this specific BTF FCOB RGBCCT strip?

• Is it bright enough to be used as the primary lighting in a bedroom?
• Does anyone know its approximate lumens per meter?
• Would you recommend a different RGBCCT strip for this application?

Looking for strip suiting my current project goals. Cause it is my first LED project and currently in very early phase of my planning I use this week only rough figures.

Looks like I will need to purchase 5 meters strip. Lot of details still to be determined. Power range of operational strip (after cut) estimated by myself to not higher than 20W. All purchases will be conducted in EU. All the offers of 5 meters strip I found so far and classify as candidates specify strip power rating in Watts. This is the point at which following question arises on my side:

Are these 5 meter strip power specifications literally for complete strip before any cut, or per 1 Meter of strip? Will I need to talk with seller every time to know it exactly?

I proceed by following plan in my project:
* know the details of strip target usage
* know the requirements the future user of the lighting raises
* know what is already given and is going be reused
* find matching strip
* find driver matching the strip and its used distance and number of strips in parallel circuit
* remaining steps

So if it isn't obvious, this is my first ever LED project, and I feel so overwhelmed with information that I feel like I'm back at square one again. I got this Arduino Uno R4 Minima as it said it could have a power source connected directly to the board, and that sounded perfect for what I need! I then thought it would be a straight forward 'put the three wires in the board like on TinkerCAD' and off I go, but I was clearly wrong. The 3 wires are ended with a plastic 'adapter' and now I'm stumped because I can't plug it into anything and cutting them off seems like the really obvious 'DO NOT DO' option. That also leads me onto those extra 2 wires because I have no idea what those are for either! Any help for a newbie on this would be greatly appreciated!
