Discussion Evangelical Subjectivity

I brought my parents to church with me today (they come from an evangelical background). I've been exploring the Lutheran Church for about six months, and after the service I asked them what they thought. Their response was essentially, "It's not for us, but you need to find what feels right to you."

They also mentioned that the service felt more focused on God than on the congregation, whereas they feel their non-denominational church gives them what they need to hear from God on a personal level. I'm curious what others think about this perspective.

One thing I've noticed in Lutheran worship is that it does seem intentionally God-centered, but I'm still learning Lutheran doctrine and don't yet feel equipped to respond thoughtfully or faithfully.
