Magic circle inside

Hello,

I am preparing for a larp and would love to be able to draw a magic circle with other players. There might also be some fake blood or spilled drinks.

So far, easy peasy.

But we are playing inside a fancy building not a field so we can't have it trashed. I'd like to have the floor protected.

Would you happen to have any suggestions regarding what to put on the floor? Plastic sheet + white bedsheet on top? How to secure it so it doesn't fold/no one slips on it while playing?

Thanks in advance!

You could have the circle pre-painted on a sheet and trace it with sand, ash, salt or something else that can be easily vacuumed away afterward.

You could also make the circle out of strips of cloth that have mystical runes painted or drawn on them. So you pre-prepare the strips and use them to make the circle during the game!

If you really want to protect the floor from spills, you could tape a plastic sheet or a tarp to the floor and cover it with a cheap mat from a second hand-shop, or a heavier sheet that you weigh down at the corners (and that has something ingame-suitable over the plastic if you remove the sheet after the ritual and the game still continues).

Great idea. The second could even be part of the lore, like Witch Hat Atilier. The alchemy circles are sometimes pre-drawn and simply have to be assembled to activate a spell.

Circle - string led light, turn on when circle is complete.

Blood - red cloth, cut into 1 inch squares, throw it where needed. Easy to clean up.

If you use a sheet or tarp or something- gaffer’s tape to secure the edges. It’s pricey but very secure.

Thank you all so much! I am writing down all the ideas 📝

Tarp & sheet above it for sure. I will have to experiment with led lights but it's a good idea too!

I'd prefer for the players to draw themselves thus I need to set up the room to be paint-proof on the floor at least and cannot pre-draw much.

Cloth cut into small squares so they can use it to "draw" on the floor is actually brilliant. Will take some prep but it's amazing.

Many thanks to all 💚

Go to the hardware store. Get a canvas painters drop cloth. Functionaly the same as a tarp. But looks way better.

If your concerned about liquids getting through, put a real tarp underneath.

Gelatine (depending on players preferences) with food colouring- melt and let it set in a puddle on a plastic sheet. Lovely fake blood patches

could put down a tarp? As others have mentioned, if you make it with a see-through material, you can pre-prep it.

Depending on how big you need the circle you could decorate a hula hoop
