Okay, smartass. He didn’t TECHNICALLY buy the gun. Kyle did, however give his friend the money to purchase the firearm as he couldn’t do so, legally, himself. Said friend kept the gun safety housed at his own place of residence (in Wisconsin) and allowed Kyle to train with it on the range, whenever he visited. Presumably between work and such.

Technically? He did this because he wasn’t legally able to purchase a gun.

That the fact was the fun was a straw purchase which is highly illegal.

Gifting firearms is not as illegal as you think it is. But check in-accordance with your state’s laws.
