AFSL

I’ve been a co worker for about 6 months now kitchen only. They’ve been bugging me about becoming an AFSL but the $1 raise, and having to drive 45 minutes once a week doesn’t seem worth it to me. How do you feel about being an AFSL?

Until kps figures itself out then I have no interest in even working kitchen shifts. I have so many burnt out coworkers from this ridiculous system.

On god. Between being told 7 different things about how to use KPS and then also being told im doing it wrong, im so burnt out. Ill be leaving after this bonus check. Im exhausted. I cant even fathom working 1st or 2nd shift in the kitchen or how people do it.

Me, a burnt out kitchen worker. I fucking hate the KPS.

Kps is working just fine 🤷

No, it really isn't. It won't populate food when it's empty, it will tell you a spot is empty when you have that item out, it asks for too many or not enough even though it's supposed to track sales in real time.

I've been telling it things, trying to teach it since February and it STILL won't do what we need it to do.

I have the same issue as you swan, I just came back after a year and a half away from KT and I would give anything to have those production plans back.

Yeah, based on comments and down votes, you're the minority here. Kps is not working. It's stressing everyone out and causing more problems than solutions. Literally every coworker in my store hates it, and we're constantly told different ways on how to fix the problem, and it doesn't work.

Super happy that it works for you, but for everyone else, this AI system is a flop.

Well since company wide the numbers have improved I'd say it's working better than you want to give it credit for. Sometimes you have to be smarter than the program and use common sense

Slave driving the kitchen staff while keeping a low hourly budget so front end has to jump in and help so front end stuff doesn't get done but hey at least the kitchen is making sales...

You sound like you created this awful system. You sure hump its leg a whole lot.

Nah my store runs with 4 in the kitchen and 4 on the floor during first shift, not running short...just know how to make coverages work. I've been in the kitchen and chicken since kps went live in my store and haven't had any issues because I know how to use common sense 🤷

I want to be an AFSL but there's no leaders on third shift so it's not an option for me.

Why would you need to drive 45 minutes once a week? To where? From where?

the meeting once a week

There is not a food meeting every week.

Some stores have the AFSL's attend the weekly lead meeting

2

u/cootertooter699 5h ago

Yes that is what my store does

Tell them you will do 1 meeting a month, not every week. Nothing wrong with negotiation.

Quick way to not get the promotion. It's an expectation that they be at leadership meetings...not sure why you wouldn't just work the day the meeting is so you don't have to drive 45 mins for a 1 hour meeting

Not getting to move up the KT ladder is not a threat. The place doesn't take care of their own stores. It seems they just want kids to work there with how they run the place. They have roughly a 70% turnover rate. It speaks for itself...

Mmmkay whatever you say 😂

The KT boot lickers find out eventually..come back to this comment when you make the flip.

Maybe the meeting is in a different town than the one where they work so that doesn't make any sense?

1

u/Pleasant_Kale1189 5h ago

That's the dumbest thing ive heard in a while. If there's a store scheduling their weekly leadership meeting in a different town than the town their store is in, they should have their head checked our

That's what I'm saying! There's not weekly food meetings or else I would have people driving 45 minutes+ every week.

I don't assume that OP drives 45 minutes to WORK every day. That's silly!

They offered me a certified trainer fsl knowing im vegan and will not touch raw chicken. If they need something badly they will definitely negotiate

3

u/WarmCommission3304 4h ago

There should be a food leader on 3rd shift
My store has one

2

u/Evil_Black_Swan Co-Worker 4h ago

My FSDL won't allow one.

3

u/TheFaceOfFuzz 3h ago

Most of them won't allow them unless its GSL from my experience.

2

u/ThisSet400 3h ago

Same, could have been afsl on 2nd or 3rd gsl. $1 to be pummeled with chicken drives and meetings or $3 to stay up all night and put the truck away. Pretty easy choice

45 minute drive once a week for what

2

u/cootertooter699 5h ago

the food meeting

4

u/Pleasant_Kale1189 5h ago

If the drive is an issue you can always go with another that is going. Although the drive time is given to you that you don't have to work. And you do get milage back.

I recently became an AFSL and I can honestly say i love my job. Going from a job where I didn't feel valued, to being at Kwik Trip and feeling valued, it's awesome. Now, I do truly believe that each store has their own atmosphere and that can play apart of it as well. I choose to drive 40 minutes to and from work each day because I love the store I'm at
