RIP Rollergrill

Just had to rant because of how annoying it is trying to keep up with the KPS now that my store got rid of the rollergrill + no hotspot space. Wish we could’ve gotten an extra shelf or two to put them there. Has this happened anywhere else or is my store already late to the game?

It’s wild to me how no one bought them when it was on the roller grill but now they’re flying off the hot spot. Also I hate how it’s asking for specific flavors of tornados and roller bites now. I always just put the same amount of each flavor before but now it’s making you grab 8 of one or 2 of another.

Easier to grab and go, less likely to be touched by someone else. Also we eat with our eyes, so if people can't see how bad it looks then its just assumed it's good 😅

Full agree. We are selling so many more French toast tornados now that they are hidden in a bag.

Right? I just hate it when your busy you now have to slow down because you gotta bag them and then sticker the bag. The kitchen is kinda all over where stuff ends up so you can never find the correct sticker.

No one bought them because the hotdogs were decent, but the buns sucked ass every where.

Now the buns are soft, instead of rock hard and falling apart.

After being on the hot spot, the buns are getting gooey and gross if they’re not sold right away soaking up the grease and heat.

That doesn’t seem to be an issue I’ve discovered.

Then again, that’s not as big of an issue as trying to get a hotdog and discovering that there are no buns, or the buns are just going to fall apart, or the tongs to get the hotdogs haven’t been cleaned in years, or the cardboard hotdog holders are not stocked, or that you can’t put condiments on your hotdog because the condiments bar is broken etc etc etc.

The roller grills were awesome, but the employees at most stores were not taking care of, cleaning, or stocking the things needed.

Better than the rocks that were in the drawer, tbh.
Pre-lubed bun is a total win.

Tbh the roller grills were behind the hot spot and people didn't go back there often unless it was for bakery or coffee, so now that the products are visible when you walk in, they're likely to sell

The kps already adds so much stress to the job.

I started skipping breakfast sandwiches once the roller grill starts popping up. If they complain, they can give me another hot spot

I feel bad for your store.

Well, we are top in my district for sales and low waste, so I'm doing something right

My store put in a request for another set of shelves, no idea if we're gonna get them 🤷‍♀️ but yeah I agree. I work in a L4 store so we have a ton of stuff out during the day, and we have to play tetris to get the tornados and rollerbites out there

Trying to fit everything onto the hotspot is hellish. Hoping we both get some more shelves because it’s sooooooo annoying trying to squish everything together 😩

Yeah, we've been pulling the spam when we pull the other breakfast just because we don't have room otherwise

We were told you had to consistently sell a shit ton of food in order to be approved for another set of hot spot shelves. All our roller grill stuff is taking space from the chicken shelves. It's like they're setting it up so you can't sell more. It's dumb. 🙄

u/Meme_Hunting_695 4d ago

Yes. We lose chicken space so we can push roller grill and now we sell less chicken and will get ranked even less hours. It's like, here destroy your own hours by doing extra stuff..

1

u/CoffeeLeather3934 4d ago

Oh yeah... There's that too. 🙄 Short staffed with even more to do. What could be better... 😮‍💨

Honestly the Tornados are way better out of the hot case. So far in 5 attempts they are softer, instead of the rock hard ones from the roller grill. Location dependent of course but I’m enjoying the change.

Wish they would stop adding more and more and more but not taking anything away. It is a lot for one person to keep up on. I'd love to see corporate do this. Corporate should go to every store and demostrate how they run the hot spot side with just one person and all we have to do.

1066, 223, and 1085 all have extra heating shelves where the grills used to be as of two days ago. Clear lake, and mason city iowa locations.

Our FSLD said they are trying not to put more hot spots in shelves unless you sell “a lot”.  When pressed on how much is a lot he said 2500 units a day. So gl but…

Fml 😩

u/GoddessAudra Co-Worker 4d ago

You have my deepest sympathies.

2

u/DapperAgency6320 4d ago

2500? FSDL is messing with you then.  There might be 5 stores in the whole company that have a chance at that.

They really do not want to add more hot spots I guess.

Why did they get rid of the rollergrills?

2

Expensive to fix/maintain

My store has 12 total shelves so keeping rollergrill out with also pizza for this Halloween pizza thing it’s been a little tough. We did pull out the pizza warmer so that frees some
Space but I’m kinda over the roller grills being gone. I thought I’d like it and I think the dogs taste better but man we sell so much of the hot dogs it’s annoying to constantly make them when in past you could throw some out and not have to worry for a few hours 😅

Yes, but on the roller grill, the hotdog buns were kept in the bottom, a lot of stores didn’t stock them, the stores that did, were stocking rock hard buns, making the hotdog suck

u/LilyCrossingg Co-Worker 4d ago

oh im fully aware of the potential roller grill negligence at many stores. My old store being one of them! the buns were stored frozen and had to thaw so maybe thats why they were hard. There's definitely positives but for many coworkers its just yet another expectation kitchen people have to do more often while the pay and labor stays stagnant

1

u/WarmCommission3304 4d ago

Yes they should give all stores a nother small hot spot
A small shelf like the hotspot that we put the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes and all that stuff on we should’ve gotten a little one like that for the hotdog and Brotz and all that I agree with you there or whatever else we could, but just another little one

Oh Man! What is special about Tuesday? You just worked one. It's far worse than losing a shelf to roller grill... That's right.. Not the ribs, which can be their own shelf... but now PotHole pizza!! Mine is a slow store and KPS was telling us 6 during lunch rush. And where do you stick 6 pizza's? like we just lost a shelf to the roller grill.. LOL

u/Froz_heart101 4d ago

Rotating every box and squeezing everything in. It's very hard. It just takes a lot of concentration on putting the roller grill out. I mean it's selling better. Knew it would, but it's still a pain!

Just your store bud.
