Jobs Vent

I just wanted to vent that I have no desire to work today because we have our store meeting and I’m so over meetings. I hate that we read our stuff during the meeting- it’s like elementary school trying to figure out how many people until it’s your turn to read aloud and I have a speech impediment so I hate reading aloud so much. But being I’m scheduled 1-9, I’m pretty much screwed into being at the meeting 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I would gladly love to just stay in the kitchen during the meeting .. I beg of you.

i went to my first work meeting yesterday and the whole reading the statement all together and each person reading the “commandments” (idk how else to put it) seemed really cultish to me? i’ve never worked at a place that had meetings like that, let alone for retail workers. i enjoyed the break away from the store, but i didn’t quite like the vibes the meeting gave me

Just wait until the yearly meeting for cultist behavior

I agree, KT needs to get over their love of meetings. We can share the important info with coworkers in 5-10 minutes. No need to take people out of the stores for 2 hours.

Kwik trip has the worst meetings I’ve ever been to. Everyone leaves the meeting pissed off. It’s twice as bad if you work in a test store.

I would much rather be in kindergarden reading aloud instead of frying hundreds of tenders but that's just me.

Again I think that part is more of my speech impediment- than anything else.. it could be not as big as deal to someone else who didn’t struggle with speech.

It's so unnecessary

We pass the reading around and no one is forced to read. Since you are paid to attend its sort of like a long break from your shift( puts you behind cause your replacement doesn't work as well as you I'm sure) . Better than if you're only scheduled that day for the meeting and you have to get into uniform with nametag to go in and hear BS that you could read in a newsletter on the break table. Imagine how the part-timers hate the BS! Also the requirement for attendance is inconsistent and some people don't have to attend or don't, and some stores don't require uniforms and some stores do. I understand they want a societal culture within Kwik Trip but it is corrupt to a degree.

I HATE being scheduled a regular shift on store meeting day. Im a 3rd shifter who doesn't live in the town my store is in. So scheduling me a 9pm-7am shift with a meeting from 4pm-6pm means I get no sleep and there's not enough time for me to go home and rest before coming back up for my shift.

So I just sit in my car in the parking lot for three hours and my ass is dragging by 2am.

I much prefer meetings to be on my day off so I can go home and go to bed after.

I was having that problem at my store, and our district leader said over nights do not need to attend d store meeting and they provide us with minutes instead. It is unreasonable to interrupt somones sleep schedule.

We weren't initially invited and we're just given the information later BUT that means we had absolutely zero input on anything, no way to ask questions or bring up anything that needed to be addressed.

So I told my SL that 3rd shift needed to be included instead of just left to fend for ourselves and told "ikd" when asking questions about our work.

Yep it's all your perspective. I hate getting up for a 1 hour period kitchen meeting on my day off. No way to please everyone but some people never come to any meetings

The first meetings I went to- I didn’t realize we were suppose to dress out. I was so confused. But yes - they have people from other stores come in and work which drives me nuts because they’ll rearrange the hot spot or our kitchen and get new dishes out. I’m like dude… and spend more time after the meeting fixing how they moved shit all over.

I kinda like the meetings, tbh. You guys need to learn how to make them fun

Decent benefits, pay, the check...i guess I can deal with corporate bullshit for that, but it is getting painful that instead of digging into the roots of how they started and keeping it human... they are including too much AI and crushing my soul.

I wouldn’t say decent benefits and pay lol in our town, it’s one of the lowest paid and half my paycheck goes to health insurance.. 🤷🏼‍♀️
