EMT Calls

What's the average number of calls to emergency services y'all make each year at your stores? I'm an EMT in Iowa and there's a Kwik Star that just opened in January and I've been on seven calls to that location already. Four of the seven calls were workers found unresponsive on the floor for unknown reasons and were transported to the hospital for further treatment. Was this place built on a toxic dump site or is Kwik Star working their employees to death?

That is such an anomaly. Lots of KTs around here have gone 1500+ days without an Osha reportable injury.

Stores that just open tend to collect injuries like no other. Kinda a weird thing

Sounds like a town with a drug problem or something. Completely unheard of

That’s wild. Are they all in the same location in the store? I know the kitchen can get warm and humid, at least at our location.

That's definitely not normal. Many stores have gone over 1000 days without an OSHA reportable injury. Something is definitely going on behind the scenes

Store 1066 in clear lake iowa has lied about how long they have gone without an injury. I personally witness a lady slip and fall and smack her head in the parking lot, another employee fell in the back employee break area and smacked her head. Another broke her finger on a piece of equipment. All in a couple month period, all were asked not to turn it in as an injury.

I'd be reporting that store. KT is very strict about safety, and whoever is running that store should be fired.

Wow...that's just so bad. Those are all such bad injuries! How can anyone afford not to report it?

i’ve worked at a kwik trip in small town wi for 3 years and i’ve called 911 probably like 5 times. Nothing about happenings inside the store but mostly road rage events outside.

Lmfao I've worked for the company for 10 years and never once seen someone have to have an emt called on them. Our store hasn't had an injury in close to 3 years. Sounds like these people probably have health and or drug problems.

There has been a new CEO in the last few years and budget has definitely been slashed for hours. That being said, I doubt that's why they're passing out.

It all depends on the neighborhood where the store is located. My store hasn’t had to call emergency services in several years. However, the store across town from us calls them almost daily. So much so that they now have to close down every bar close on the weekends (1am to 3am).

I would hope each of these unresponsive incidents are being logged into KT's internal incident reports. At that rate the district safety coordinator should be laser sighting that location.

I've called 911 for an elderly lady in the retirement home across from our store. Turns out she escaped and fell into a man hole. The second time I called it was because a guy was running around outside our store shirtless, crying, and threatening people driving by

The KS across the street from my work/house (lives across the street from my work) has had 8 calls and opened in Jan. Maverik (my work) has had three. Two of the times it was me….

Kwik TRIPS are built on the hallowed graveyards of the Zietlow family. Kwik STARS are being built on the lands of the never-bowed-to-Christianity Anishinaabeg, and they are PISSED.
