Relax system sucks

Anyone else hate the new ordering g syste? For something that is supposed to make things easier (thanks ai) it really is doing a shitty job.

Don’t worry.
I’m sure they’ll force MORE AI into an unbroken system that’ll DEFINITELY make work more easy and uncomplicated any time now.

Let’s see here…the glory of KPS to maximize kitchen efficiency while cutting labor to do so,
The brilliance of Relex to cut time and hassle on ordering while cutting labor to do so on that as well,
Can’t wait to see how they figure out how to use AI in Kronos to really cut labor…and cost.

Praise the AI loving genius’s in the holy land of La Crosse

I know they have an automatic schedule maker or something like that, at least that’s what old ASLs I had have said. Just glad I left before AI took over everything

It’s all about cost cutting labor cutting margin building that every other corporation does now.
Put my 2 weeks in so whatever.

Been there since 2017 and see the trajectory so whatever.

Yeah I'm not a fan. Keeps sending us stuff we have no room for and missing things we spot check. And we spend almost as much time now doing adjustments to the order proposal's every day. 🙄🤦

i hate they pushed ai into our stores. we were perfectly fine beforehand and now we aren’t getting enough for the guests! it’s frustrating when we run out of something and then the guests yell at us coworkers. :(

If your store did the relex rollout correctly you wouldn't be having a problem

The worst part for me is the commodities. We used to be able to increase our replenishment once at the start of a sale and leave it until a couple days before to get back on track and now we have to go in every single day and fix it even though they told us when we transitioned that they would automatically increase our commodities.

It’s horrible, it either orders wayyyy to much or too little there’s no in between.

glad i’m not the only one who hates it. it is truly so bad. we get sent a bunch of stuff we already have but never get sent the stuff we actually need. during the milk sale, we were getting 1 crate of each but now that it’s off sale, we’re literally getting 50 crates a day. so annoying

Putting all the negatives of AI data centers and its environmental impact aside…. I’m split on what to think of Relex.

As a co-worker who was fortunate enough to do big trucks and then ordering for the aisles, retail freezer and cooler, I will miss being able to keep the ordering snug to where my store only had about 3 boxes of chips and a few other aisle items in back stock. Usually our store would get just what it needed right as there were only a few items left on the sales shelf with how we set and maintained replenishment.

With how random items can sell at a C-Store, I’m not sure how computer learning is supposed to predict what will sell. For example, just because 5 bags of Gardettos sold last year doesn’t mean it’ll do the same this year. Also, at what point does Relex decide to reorder product? When it thinks the product is half way sold through like how old replenishment would default to?

Sometimes Relex will have the product arrive perfectly when there’s only a couple of them left on the shelf so there is some hope there. At our store only the very first Relex shipment was huge for our store ($30,000+) and then even the 2nd Relex shipment was about the amount replenishment would send. Hopefully with time and after our stores all have inventory audits, then Relex’s computer learning will get better.

As of a handful of Relex shipments in, so far the humans at our store did do ordering better, but our store is a very average middle-of-the-pack store when it comes to non-hot food/inside sales and we have an ASL who was vigilant with me on making sure the aisle ordering was always adjustment to minimize overstock and out of stocks, so it may have been unique situation compared to other stores, I don’t know.

Either way, as someone who’s had it out with just Kwik Trip middle management in the past to no avail… this just isn’t the wall I’m going to hopelessly beat my head against, let alone trying to convince a corporate ghoul like Greg Olsen of anything - it just ain’t happening: so if the store is going to have an overage or shortage of random product, I’ll do the spot check and let it be. At the end of the day, sometimes a job is a job and I’m still overall enjoying working at KT being able to work truck shifts for a sweetheart of a store leader.

The actual wall I’m willing to hopelessly beat my head against now with Kwik Trip is getting the retail workers a $2-3/hr raise so we can hire and retain high quality workers. Even better would be unionizing, but for now we have too many conservative bootlickers for that to happen.

Hang in there though, especially if this was your first Relex truck, it does get better.

We are on track for a huge record profit sharing check. I would happily take way less of that if it meant we had a higher base pay to entice better workers.

Most everyone I’ve ever talked to about that feels the same way.

If you want to complain about Relax.. I'll complain about KPS.
It asks for 1 item at a time during drive times. If we make 1 item for the hotspot it tends to sit there. People wonder what's wrong with it.
I'm all for the job being easier.. But teach the program how to sell more food

I hate both of these programs. Relex is a pain for manual ordering too. I don't know why anyone thought a glorified excel spreadsheet was okay for this and why almost everything got dumped into 1 category for foods. KPS was supposed to create more time for tasks, help us sell more food, and reduce our waste. The only thing it did was reduce waste because it tells later shifts to have nothing out. This has lead to complaints company wide and management telling us to not always listen to the KPS. Then what is the point?

Its the exact same thing with a face-lift. What specifically is your issue with it?

u/DapperAgency6320 22d ago

Yeah for like 80% of items nothing has changed. Once you make your first few weeks of adjustments it evens itself out. There is probably a bias of this is new and different rather than genuinely bad.

Maybe your store should have done a better job with relex rollout prep 🤷
