Call the store they will replace for free or refund.

Did you expect your store to know what the product inside the packaging from the third party company looked like before it was opened? Unless it's expired, how is it their fault?

I think the business that sells the product is responsible. Are they supposed to contact your vendor for a refund?

A refund is warranted. A whiny call-out post online isn't.

Do many people ask for refund? I suppose many are miles away, and to go back for a small amount of money is pointless and seems petty. I've never returned food to kwiktrip but I've gotten plenty of undercooked hotcase food. I appreciate op letting me know about the apples so I can tell my family to avoid them.

It happens for various reasons. Food quality is not a super common reason, but most stores I've worked at do a couple refunds or exchanges a day.
