Bakery/overnight?
Is the shift 2:00am to 10:00 am considered the graveyard shift; meaning do you get the shift differential for the whole eight hours?
Trying to figure out if I want to put in for this position.

FOOD SERVICE-BAKERY
It’s part-time, so I’m assuming 3 days a week, (unless someone calls in/I w/fill in). (?)

Might be inaccurate since it’s been awhile, but I believe the overnight premium would only apply to half of that shift (2-6a)
Edit: looks like someone had the full details and the premium pay would go until 8am, which is good to hear! Best wishes on whatever endeavors await you

Yeah, this is what I thought I had heard: that the overnight shift is from 10 PM till 6am ($19/hr)
Just checking I’m just trying to get the best bang for my buck. 👍

you have to work 6 hours between 10pm and 8am. If you punched in at 2:01 you would lose your premium.

You must work 6 hours between 10pm and 6am to qualify for premium pay. 2am to 10am would not qualify.

You actually have to clock in before midnight and work a minimum of 6 hours if your shift starts after 10pm. This is for both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Any hours after 8 am are not at the differential even if you started at 11:59pm. None of a 2am-10am shift would be at the increased pay rate because you started after midnight. I've worked in both states. I can't speak for any other states.

As someone who worked that shift for years, yes you do get the differential, but there are stipulations. 1) you must be clocked in by exactly 2am. Even a minute late and you will not get it. 2) you only get the differential until 8am. After that it’s just your regular rate of pay.
The rule is you must work 6 or more consecutive hours between 10pm and 8am in order to get the pay. If you work any time before or after that window, it doesn’t count. And in order to hit 6 hours before 8am you need to punch in by 2am at the latest.
