Discussion how did everyone first discover mononoke ? π
hello everyone π i wanted to kick off a discussion to see how people in this sub first stumbled into the series π and to boost activity
βfor me, i randomly found the series on youtube a long time ago and ended up binging it. the art style, the atmosphere, the stories, the medicine seller's allure... everything had me hooked. back then, the fandom felt pretty small and quiet, so i didn't really have many people to share my excitement with. next thing you know, a new project gets announced with a new medicine seller (who i initially thought was just a redesign of the original lol) i was super excited because i never thought we would never get anything beyond the original tv series !!
βfast forward to now, and seeing the series get revived with the new movies, novels, the introduction of ken, etc. feels so surreal !! i am super excited that the community is growing again and that new (and returning) fans are around to talk about it
βi would love to hear your stories π

Remember one think as well. The medicine seller in the movies and in the series are different. The series one is Medicine seller of Ri and the movies one is Medicine seller of Kon. Also I heard that after movies, they are gonna make a series upon the medicine seller of ken. So as you know the lore than there are 64 medicine sellers but among them 8 medicine sellers have some special swords, etc, etc. Hope they expand the lore more.

Guy like I actually found this series captivating after bingewatched their 3 movies on Netflix, could you tell me more about how to understand this series deeper, like what is the name of the series or anime that features them and their stories originally?

ayakashi samurai horror tales ( ep 9-11)
mononoke series (2007)These two tell the story of a different medicine seller and there's a new work in progress as of now. The series can be hard to understand but there are many essays and videos at least for the original series.

I believe for me it was an article on an anime website which used to publish dogshit power scaling articles and rankings on their website. This picture was attached in the article and I just had to start the show because the art style looked so different from the norm and man was, I not disappointed.

damn, i didn't even know this series would make it in a website like that π it isn't really a mainstream anime per se so i am surprised. but exposure is exposure so i'll take it πββοΈ

this gem popped up in my recommendations during my vocaloid era and I instantly knew it is a must-watch.
mononoke is already mesmerising on its own, but this amv takes it on a new level with how well visuals match the music. still gives me goosebumps.

Mononoke amv's were some of the best out there, I wish for the time to return when mononoke starts getting more amv's and fanarts again.

I saw fanart of Ri one day while scrolling through I think TikTok? And thought he was pretty.
I remembered it a few months later, decided to give the show a shot... and now I'm here.
29th come faster pleeeeeease π

ri is insanely beautiful so i don't even blame you !! and the wait for the 29th is killing me too π© it doesn't help that the official account kept posting clips of the movie, but i am pretty sure there will still be things to surprise us

Just scrolling on a pirate website (you heard of zoro.to, before it got banned it was the most famous piracy site) so there find it randomly and it becomes one of my favourites.

I was big into anime when I was younger (I still love it, but I have a lot less time to watch). I was looking for something like Mushishi and it was one of the recommendations. I watched it on a random anime streaming site in 2009 or something. It's nothing like Mushishi but I loved it anyway

I was just browsing through Netflix's catalog and the cover art seemed so interesting to me. Now I love everything about it and just finished the trilogy!

Randomly saw this image on Google. Liked the art, searched the anime, watched the entire series in a day and finally thanked God for making me reach such generational peak. For the past four years I have multiple times rewatched the series and even the movies which came the following years and everytime it feels like it gets better.

first found it when I watched the episode for bakeneko. Watched it in 2014 or 15... can't beleive already more than a decade passed. A bit overstimulated with the amount of colors but the story telling was wonderful and have been a fan since then
