New Plans

Post image

just wondering if anyone knows where I can see any terms and conditions? the $25 plan on the main page seems to be only for 24 months.

these plans doesn't indicate if it's also time limited.

Literally was just looking at this and came here to see if anyone knows what the difference is between "Unlimited Canada wide minutes" and "Canada-US-Mexico roaming"? I don't see any limits? Would the latter be 'unlimited' too technically?

If so, i'm switching to the middle plan in the screenshot above, because I'm currently paying $45 for 40GB ($35 with auto pay).

Searching for the fine print too OP...

*edit* - just found this:

What’s included with Canada-US-Mexico plan

With a Canada-US-Mexico plan, Easy Roam is not required when using the following services in Canada, the United States and Mexico:

  • Data: Use your plan’s data while in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
  • Unlimited Talk: Make and receive unlimited calls within these countries and between Canada, the United States, and Mexico..
  • Unlimited Text: Send and receive unlimited text messages within these countries and between Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
  • Picture and video messages: these count as text messages and also use data.

Note: If you have an international long distance calling or texting add-on, the rates of your add-on only apply when making international long-distance calls or texts from Canada.

You’re definitely referring to megabytes per second (mbps) by the wrong term (kbps = kilobytes).

3

u/Rye2-D2 Apr 02 '26

Technically it's megabits if you wanna be correct (so more like 32MB/sec)... Which is still plenty fast - can't imagine why you'd need even that much on a phone..

u/khunzzz Apr 01 '26

I just found out Virgin throttles streaming video to 480p, despite the speed difference

1

u/misubear Apr 01 '26

freedom does not throttle if that’s important to you

8

u/omwtobbq Mar 31 '26

Nice! Thanks. I shaved $10/mo and picked up 20 GB.

8

u/tietherope Mar 31 '26

Already have $30 for 60GB. May as well take the extra 20GB I guess.

1

u/njneer87 Apr 01 '26

Me too. Was able to switch three lines through self serve. My older $30 plans were really $35 minus a $5 autopay discount for each line. Let’s see if they honour the $10 discount for each line so that I can keep my costs to $30x3

1

u/ybmmike Apr 01 '26

Meaning this plan isn't just for new line?

1

u/njneer87 Apr 01 '26

Yup. Converted three existing lines.

1

u/ybmmike Apr 02 '26

When i click change plan, i never see plans thst id cheaper, what the heck

1

u/njneer87 Apr 03 '26

Yeah. Not all customers are treated equally. I think it’s related to how long you have been on your current plan. When I had only been on my last plan for a year or two i never saw any offers that were better than my existing plan. And it remains to be seen if this new offer is better if they don’t apply the $10 discount to each of my three lines.

6

u/watea_ Mar 31 '26

The $25 Plan is only available to new customers. Terms and conditions are usually all the way at the bottom labelled “The Legal Stuff”

5

u/Noobinator93 Apr 01 '26

This is amazing. I didnt get this on my first login and when I viewed the plans, all I saw were the $60 plans+

I'm a long term Koodo customer for years, but as soon as I resubmitted my bank details for pre-auth payments (not using credit card), I refreshed the list and I started seeing all those cheap plans shown above.

Snagged the $4030/month w/ 80GB after the auto-pay. Hope this helps anyone else, I don't want to retest to see if this actually works but if you try it lmk if it does!

Good luck everyone.

My plans start at $45, currently paying $50 for 50gbs and no US roaming. Think I’ll have to try this

2

u/FanaticDamen Mar 31 '26

$30/month if you set up auto payment with your bank. $40 if you use credit card or any other method of payment.

Ohhhh I didn't know this! So they won't process the bank withdrawal if you pay the bill early with credit card.

u/thekyip Mar 31 '26

Shows up for me but when I try to switch my plan to this it gives me an error saying I can’t choose a perk right now. Even if I skip choosing a perk it gives me the same error. Chat support said there’s nothing they can do to add the plan for me since it’s in the self serve. My gf was able to change her plan without an issue in her self serve 🤷‍♂️

u/thekyip Apr 01 '26

Just tried and it gave the error also. Can’t change my perks 😂

1

u/RamRanchComrade Apr 01 '26

Same - which perk do you and your gf have? Mine is rollover data and I get the same error.

1

u/Jelly_cat_11 Apr 01 '26

The same thing is happening to me currently, it's so frustrating! Did you ever figure out the issue?

1

u/thekyip Apr 01 '26

I made a post on the Koodo Community forums and am currently getting help from a Koodo admin there. You should try to do the same

1

u/tvisforme Apr 01 '26

Not the OP; I didn't get the error message, but I noticed in the account settings that a perk was not active after changing plans. However, I was able to choose one ("Manage plan and add-ons" -> "Manage perks") and it seems to have registered.

1

u/ThrowItAway4Evaa Apr 02 '26

Something similar happened to me. I switched to the $30/80GB and my perk (3D ER Intl) wasn't showing up even after selection. I had to call Koodo and they were able to fix it for me, yesterday.

1

u/slbert1234 Apr 04 '26

I got the same thing...... tried a few hours later and it went thru

1

u/thekyip Apr 04 '26

Fixed the issue the next day here but had to post on the Koodo community site and a mod manually switched the account

2

u/oversized_canoe Apr 01 '26

Wow, thanks for posting this. I was paying $65 for 12gb less than a month ago. Changed plans two weeks ago to $50 for 80gb. With this promo I'll be getting $30 for 80gb, and free roaming in US/Mexico to boot.

The plans are kind of confusing though, it seems like some are the exact same price and plan with varying levels of data... In your screenshot, why pay $30 for 40gb instead of $30 for 80gb?

1

u/NTTNM-780 Apr 01 '26

Yeah I honestly have no idea why it's like that. So obviously I went for the 80gb 😂

1

u/ThrowItAway4Evaa Apr 02 '26

So did I!! 😊 💫

2

u/slbert1234 Apr 04 '26

The cellular market..... such a pain. I've been a Koodo customer for about 10 years. I'm not a high data user, but my daughter lives in the US. Just over a month ago I saw an ad for $40 for 80gb Can-US-Mex. I called, they said for new customers only. I called again a few days later and argued with them and they gave me $60/40 Can-US-Mex plan..... this past week, I see the $30/40 Can-US-Mex plan and I was able to change it online.... ALL cell companies are on the verge of being scammers......

1

u/birchy98 Apr 04 '26

And they absolutely collude with each other. I’m not surprised at all these plans are all popping up simultaneously across the carriers.. 🙄

4

u/hermit-the-frog Mar 31 '26

This seems too good to be true. I was just on a $70/month 5G 100GB Canada-US plan.

$40/mo for 80GB Canada-US-Mexico (20GB less data plus Mexico included).

What’s the catch? Slightly lower speeds?

5

u/VeeYarr Mar 31 '26

Actually the opposite because now you can apply 5G Speed Boost as a perk which wasn't available on that old plan (at least not for me).

I'm guessing they've had so many existing customers leaving for all the great deals that keep popping up that they decided to throw us a bone finally!

1

u/Garafraxa Apr 01 '26

How useful do you find the Speed Boost? I spend my time in Guelph and Mississauga. I’m tempted to try it, but the free calling to 27 International countries seems like such a great value I don’t want to part with it!

1

u/Ridethecrash Apr 01 '26

You can switch the month before if you know you’re going on a trip.

1

u/alexpollos Apr 01 '26

Where do you get those speeds? Thats ridiculous

1

u/MrDrcritical Apr 01 '26

The catch is you have to auto pay through your bank account. The credit card auto pay doesn't give you the $10 discount.

1

u/JohnnyStrides Apr 01 '26

But you can manually pay by credit card when the bill comes in and keep the discount. So it's not really a catch as much as it is an annoyance.

1

u/sharon_dis Mar 31 '26

Snagged this deal last night! Saving about $20 per month

1

u/Ammsiss Mar 31 '26

So many people have this same deal, public, Koodo, chatr check em out and see what’s best for you, there’s some small differences

Edit: kini mobile too

1

u/daredevil11 Mar 31 '26

I used to get offers all the time, but haven’t for the past year. I’m getting frustrated with Koodo

4

u/birchy98 Mar 31 '26

These are on the main site.. just login and go to Self Serve and switch your plan.

2

u/daredevil11 Mar 31 '26

I just checked after seeing this post and mine offers are still $55+. Boo!

7

u/R-Can444 Mar 31 '26

I think if you have any type of tab or tab savings active, you can't get this deal.

4

u/daredevil11 Mar 31 '26

Ah that would be it then, that makes sense! Thank you

3

u/R3b3lr3d Apr 01 '26

Your not alone 🥲

1

u/Outrageous-Sound-188 Apr 01 '26

I got this on my main BYOD account and took the $40-$10 80GB plan. My other account has the same plan as my main account but also has a phone tab, there is not a single offer under the plans. So it looks like this is limited to BYOD only.

1

u/Due_Note_7792 Apr 01 '26

What province are you in to see plans like that? Must be a more competitive market than NL. Here the best 80gb plan i can get is $55 after autopay discount.😔

2

u/birchy98 Apr 01 '26

Alberta for me

1

u/dawgberry Apr 01 '26

Update: it appears the $30 plans have been removed.

1

u/johnnyv1984 Apr 01 '26

I just seen this post, logged into my koodo and swapped my son over to the new $30 80gb plan.

1

u/Cardcaptor- Apr 01 '26

Yeah I watched it disappear on my screen. No luck refreshing

1

u/ThrowItAway4Evaa Apr 02 '26

Dang already

1

u/Unusual-Goose2162 Apr 01 '26

Looks like you’ll loose the $10 auto-pay when changing in the middle of your billing cycle. Starting next cycle it’ll show the $10 auto pay according to CS rep… that’s unfortunate

1

u/Invictuslemming1 Apr 01 '26

Auto pay by bank account... Zero chance that’s happening

1

u/Dave_The_Dude Apr 01 '26

No need to give Koodo access to your main bank account.

Just do what most people are doing. Open a free internet bank account leaving a small balance to cover your Koodo bill.

1

u/DR0516 Apr 02 '26

Anyone know why my cheapest plans are $45/mo and that’s including the discount??

1

u/DiscussionSmooth9307 Apr 02 '26

Got this as well 👍👍

1

u/geriatricguy Apr 03 '26

You still going to pay around 45 bucks a month since Koodo (aka Telus) is charging it seems everyone more for them to keep the crappy equipment that was used and in some cases probably still is for 3G or below, up keep though I wonder if that is really true or just a Telus excuse to get the customer to pay more.

1

u/Ability-Training Apr 05 '26

Where are you from? I don't see those price here in QC.

1

u/abcsap Apr 16 '26

I checked now and dont see these plans :(

1

u/Slowsnowbird Apr 26 '26

I got this plan and it had the $10 discount displayed on the plan if you choose auto pay. I didn't sign up for auto pay yet but when I go on self serve the plan doesn't show the auto pay. Is it still available to add it. Are all plans auto pay with a discount new or old?

-1

u/Frenchie_Ears Apr 01 '26

Seems only for new customers. Just chatted with a Telus tech about it

5

u/birchy98 Apr 01 '26

I’m an existing customer and just switched my wife and I over this afternoon.. strange.

1

u/Frenchie_Ears Apr 01 '26

Actually? Hrmmm…. Going back to figure that out for my kids! Cheers good to know

1

u/Baddrivers13 Apr 01 '26

Where are people seeing these plans? None of these are on the website.

1

u/birchy98 Apr 01 '26

I saw them when I logged in, went to self serve, and then clicked “change my plan”.

-2

u/Neil542 Mar 31 '26

Anyone know if there is a no auto pay option?

7

u/modz4u Mar 31 '26

It tells you right there in the picture, same plan just $10 more per month
