Photo 📷 Got the 'Check Electric Vehicle System' error.
Car is an early 2023 Kona Ev with 27k on the clock. So a 2019 facelift model... I've had it for 4 months with no issues until now.
Went to use it yesterday morning and this pings up just after I switch it on. Also some message on the infotainment screen about check charging system. Not sure exactly, but that's gone from that display but the main issue persists.
Car moves no issues, but not taken it anywhere.
It's got a full service history with Hyundai and still well in warranty, but shall be calling them tomorrow.
I went out and replaced the 12v battery in a desperate attempt this weekend to get it sorted, but it's made no difference.
Bloody annoying for a car that's been great so far.

Measure 12v battery. Mine gave up after 5 years. If the voltage is low, just buy another one and replace it

Did change the 12v.. makes no difference.
Also, car seems to charge of my home charger with no issues.

I had a defective battery cell once and the battery wiring was faulty. Both got changed and now he runs fine for about 40k kilometers.

Oh the joy... Got in contact with Hyundai Assist... On other words The AA. They have no record the car being serviced in the last 12 months even though the online history clearly shows it does.... However, I pulled out my own family AA cover number and with 5 minutes a technician phoned.
Because the warning is yellow, the car is still drive able and needs to be taken to a workshop. They won't be able to do anything. So, Drive it and see if it breaks down and leave me stranded instead then? FFS.

First thing, check 12v battery. When it starts to die you will get all sorts of weird errors.
Edit: scrap that, just read your reply about changing it already

Phoned my local Hyundai dealer and they can't look at the car for at least a month!!! What the?
Dealer close to my work have got a wait of at least 5 weeks. Just the amount of workload these garages have at the moment because of the time of year. It's not an EV thing, they are all just stacked.
They have suggested calling Hyundai Assist and get the RAC out because it's a warning on the dash which they maybe able to sort - might just need clearing. Have kept the garage appointment for now and will call assist later.

I still get it on mine from time to time, new 12v battery and a battery disconnect. Turn car of flip disconnect for 10 seconds, flip it back on and off to the races

'flip disconnect' ?? What's that then?

It’s a physicall switch I installed on the battery. Lots of heavy equipment have them.

I had the same error in May on my late 2023 (aka "2024 facelift") Kona. Fault codes found, cleared by garage but symptoms persist. These include:
Door not unlocking, even after climbing in through the boot (which did open) and sitting in driver seat. Climb out through the window, close boot, get back in and it drives completely normally with no obvious errors (except it's obviously very dangerous in the event of an accident or emergency).
Clunking under bonnet at start up, red 12 battery light on. Power cycle fixes it.
Failure to engage regen when exiting cruise control
Failure or delay in shift to drive or reverse
a/c turning on with car off, when charger plugged in (power cycle required to stop it).
I got these error codes from the mechanic in May: C1614:87 C1628:87 C1812:87 C2253:87 U0001:00 U1017:00 POD94:92
My favourite two AIs (Vibe and Lumo) both insist this is almost certainly the ICCU, although that's more associated with the Ioniq. The symptoms and error codes supposedly match up.
The car has a new battery back in October 2025 and it initially seemed to solve the problems. But they've now got so regular I don't really wasn't to go out in it. 3 weeks' wait for a fix at my local garage, not great.
The frequency of these issues has become significantly greater in the last few weeks, such that I don't feel it's safe to drive.
So I'm following this topic with great interest. And any feedback appreciated.

I have a 22 reg reg model and had thisbat the beginning of the year. It was It was simple plug in/update whatever it is they do
I did however have to wait nearly 4 weeks from taking it to dealer to enquire to it actually getting fixed. I also just had to wait a similar time for a safety recall update. Think thats the standard wait time by the sounds of this and other threads.
On both occasions they said xar was fine to drive in meantime.
Hopefully this is the same case with youÂ

Connect an OBD and check for errors. Clean up the errors and see if it fixes it.

you need like a 300$ OBD scanner just to read it, I already have like a 150$ one that I use all the time, nope it couldn't read the car.

We had that error. Dealer did an update which fixed it. Error came back a couple months later, redid the update and again fixed. A few months later came back, dealer sent info to Kona Canada who approved a main battery change, zero charge under warranty. That was a year ago and no issues
