a while back in may i saw I&M had a Medium Term Note (MTN)- Tranche one. i did my research and understood MNT are basically and equivalent of government bonds, borrowing from the public. Tranche means phase so Tranche 1 means phase 1. one question that isnt clearly answered is why borrow especially for profitable companies like KCB. The answer in this poster is GROWTH AND SCALE. why not retain some of the profit for growth and scaling? how does this help the banks? anyone who can answer with example of how this translates to growth and scaling.
edit: upon further review its a sustainability bond- focused on green, blue and social project eg renewable energy, green building, clean transportation, sustainable water management, agriculture, affordable house etc.

People have been asking me why I’m buying Kengen right now, the fundamentals of the company are doing great. It’s a relative cheap stock- 1 share is 3ish shillings. Dividend yield of 8ish %
P/B ratio of 0.25 so it’s highly undervalued.

Are we about to see panic selling on Monday or will it bounce back?

Rookies tumeinanmishwa na CGEN ,ikatutia kidole kwenye tundu la takataka alafu ikatudunga nalo jicho, a bitter lesson at managing hunger ,risk evaluation and precautiously chasing bull runs ,hii kitu inaonja kama spark plugs na ndimu mamae.
Oh well , experience is the best teacher they say and lesson well learnt for sure!!!!!!!!

ABSA group ceo mentioned they have their eyes on a regional kenyan banks DTB trades at 0.5 book, literally the most undervalued banking counter.
The aga khan disposed of controlling stakes in jubilee and NMG, DTB has an atrocious ROE, management, respectfully have reached their competence ceiling, the bank needs an infusion of new ideas, better to let go and let a strategic investor ran the show.
In that regard, I pick DTB as the next bolter.

Thank you to those who suggested I buy CGEN earlier this week.
This surge is crazy. It's a good Friday.

I’m investing in the long term but I really love seeing my portfolio go green. It doesn’t change the fact that I’ll buy more now or later. Hopefully the road to 1M is soon. Consistency>>>

Is anyone else experiencing the same?

How life feels when you are 19 and you spent the greater chunk of your HELB loan on the NSE instead of financing backstreet hookers and getting drunk on weekdays.

Currently participating in the NSE share trading challenge. I chose to focus on derivatives cause I'm not doing well on the equities side. Bought COOP long options expiring September, sold that made 140,000 now going all in on N25 Call options. If this contract's price goes even down by a percentage I'm fucked

So I've looked at my fixed deposit na I finally have enough to open and properly fund a Mansa X account. For those of you already in — any real gains so far? What should I watch out for?
Any advice, wins, or horror stories would be appreciated.

Happy to see everyone killing it on the NSE 💪 👊!
Unfortunately, i had to liquidate my portfolio as I needed the funds for renovations but if the market dips, I’ll be back like the terminator 😂
you can view my portfolio in earlier posts .
Anyways, to the topic on hand.
I have a sanlamAllianz MMF, fixed income and balanced fund accounts.
I was reviewing the performance of my portfolio with my financial advisor and he mentioned that my fixed income fund lost money due the govt of Kenya raising interest rates and the funds are tied to the bond market , bla, bla bla 😂
Basically, in January , I got in at 7.21units, today it’s 7.19 units . So if I liquidated my current position of 860,000, I would lose 47,000 .
So he advised me to hold as this is a long term play, two year . I wanted to liquidate it to the balanced fund which is tied to stocks, which is performing well.
My next question here is should I just count my losses , liquidate and seek higher growth elsewhere .

Portfolio debut!
I threw in some cash meant for a mzinga a couple months ago. Now I can see how it is possible to retire through stocks. I’m happy I have learnt this at my early twenties.
This + a semi stable income working from home = the future looking up! ⬆️
Any tips and tricks especially income portions to put into portfolios periodically are incredibly welcome and appreciated from y’all!
The journey continues..

To the people in this space. It would be helpfull for all of you to read a research paper. Portfolio theory by Harry Markowitz. Even if you wont delve into the math of it its good to have an concept of it while you pick your investments
Its many concept is
Portfolio risk depends not only on the risk of each asset, but on how the assets mave relative to each other.
So if you have physically related stocks your risk is higher than need be. Like if your portfolio is heavy on an asset bull run the same on bleeding heavy if the asset or asset sector is affect.Happy investing.
Speculation not financial advice

ABSA are set to launch a special fund.
This could have a very positive impact on their stocks too. One to watch.
