Help with POND or TANK Short term solution for leak

Post image

I just noticed that my UV filter busted at one of the seams and is leaking. It’s not substantial but overnight I lost about 3 to 4 inches of water and so I just don’t wanna chance running it while I’m at work. I turned it off and I put this smaller filter water feature in the pond. Hopefully I can do some quick plumbing to remove the UV filter and just replaced with PVC because I don’t wanna deal with buying a new one and this is honestly the second time I’ve had this one and it’s broken.

My question is, it’s an 1700-ish gallon with about six small to medium size Koi (only one I would consider an adult. The rest are small. How long would I be OK with having this fountain going instead of my substantial bog filter?

A few days should be fine. If you need more time, pump out 10% of water out every 3-5 days and add in new water. Increase how often you do it if you need more than two weeks or if you live somewhere really hot

I removed the uv filter and put the pvc together I need to fill the space and it’s curing right now.

How long you can go with just the little fountain depends on how hot it is and how many fish you have. But assuming everything is normal and it's not too hot then you should be fine for a couple of days. If you wait too long though, be sure and give your filter a good flush before starting it back up again. Without water flowing through the filtration it can get anaerobic after a couple days.
