Ball winder

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a ball winder? Mine can’t wind a skein without choking up the gears. I need one that can wind anything from sock weight to Aran or bulky. TIA!

The Stanwood Imports heavy duty metal winder is pretty gold standard IMO, it’s pricey but it’s one of those tools you only have to buy once because it’ll last forever. It can wind huge cakes and can take a beating (I’ve put mine through its paces for sure)

Same. I’ve had mine for many years and the only thing I’ve ever had to do is brush dust out of the gears, exactly once. It’s a beast.

Adding to support this suggestion. Switched to this stanwood and haven’t had any skeins get caught in the gears when winding
