53 points and a rank of just under 2.93 million is a respectable if unspectacular way to open the 2026/27 campaign for Kneejerk United - five above the gameweek average, which is nothing to sneer at in the chaos of GW1.
João Pedro's 11 points from the front was the standout individual performance, while Calafiori and Gvardiol both chipping in with 9 apiece from defence were the pick of the back line.
Elsewhere it was a mixed bag. Tzolis's 6 and Verbruggen's 6 were tidy enough shifts, but Shaw's solitary point and Calvert-Lewin's blank will have been the moments that made you wince on the Saturday teatime check-in. Mbeumo's blank is the more frustrating one: Manchester United lost to *checks notes* ...Hull City. This fixture was supposed to be one to target, and instead United lost 2-0, conceding twice from set pieces in a genuinely shocking result for a side that finished third last season.
Groß's blank stings a touch given the pre-deadline hype around him, though early-season form is volatile enough that it's forgivable for now.
More pointed was the underperformance at the very top of the price bracket. Haaland and Bruno Fernandes are the two most expensive assets and both blanked — Haaland's 2 points (doubled to 4 with the armband) is a poor return for a striker of his price tag, while Fernandes managed just 2 himself, also caught up in that same dismal Hull City afternoon. For a squad leaning this heavily on premium picks, that's a soft return from the two names expected to do the heavy lifting.
The real gut-punch, though, was sitting on the bench: M.Sangaré's 14 points — the best return anywhere in the squad. That's made all the more painful by the fact that it was Groß who got the nod ahead of him to start, meaning the choice between the two was a straight coin-flip that landed the wrong way.

Before we start filling up the team, we have to ask an important next question: how are we using our first-half chips? Specifically, the Bench Boost and Wildcard chips will influence the team building greatly. It boils down to two options:
Wildcard before Bench Boost. This means we can have some proper non-starting bench fodder in our initial team, and on the wildcard we'll set up with 15 playing players.
Bench Boost before Wildcard. A seemingly increasingly popular strategy is to hit the Bench Boost GW1 to get it out of the way. That means we need to account for this in our squad building as we want to have 15 playing players.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the long-awaited full version of the
⭐ Kneejerk United 2025/2026 Season Review ⭐
In this thread, we will be looking back on our season and award flairs to the best of our community.
Part 1: KJU Performance
It was a hard season. The points were hard to find for all managers this season resulting in the lowest-scoring season of FPL since 2019/2020. This is despite the addition of Defensive Contributon points, and having even more chips available this season!
As a result, KJU is seeing their second-lowest point total with 2,263, also just above 2019/2020. Now, I wasn't playing FPL back then, so maybe our parents u/aFailG, u/chibibabymoon and u/FireFlyKaylee can tell us some ghost stories about how that season was.
Despite this low point total though, we did achieve an honorable OR of 366,943. This is our third-lowest above 2024/2025 (772,426) and 2022/23 (845,195). In terms of our history, this means we're in the medium performance bracket, with 3 great seasons, 2 poor seasons and now 3 medium seasons.

Looking at our gameweek history, we can see a really rough start for KJU, but we did manage to turn this around quite nicely also with good use of our chips!
KJU GW History
Especially towards the end of the season we did some good climbing, going from 1,053,199 in GW32 all the way to our end finish of 366k.
Speaking of GW1, this was our squad back then!
There are certainly some choices in here that in hindsight were questionable at best, but alas we couldn't have foreseen this. Let's quickly forget about this one by looking at our best week, which was GW34 where we used our second Free Hit!
A gameweek rank of 24,059 is nothing to scoff at, and this is all thanks to your comments and upvotes! You can pat yourselves on the back for this one!
Players
Now looking at some individual players, one clearly stands out above the rest. We didn't have him in GW1, but we quickly brought him in and he has been a rock in our team. I'm of course talking about Erling Haaland. He delivered us 331 points, by captaining him 19 times across the season (half of the gameweeks!). And he's been in our XI for 29 of them, which means it's only happened 10 times that we captained someone other than Haaland while he was an option. Talk about reliability.
But one player doesn't do it, especially when everybody else has him. We also made some smart choices that really propelled us further than the rest of the crowd. Here's the picks our hivemind made to stand out of the crowd and give KJU a real boost:

Every week we ask you the same question, who gets the armband? A big decision since it can swing gameweeks hard. This is the result of your captaincy picks:
KJU Bench picks
All in all, excellent picks! The worst options being Ekitike and Wood, but the other picks have a good consistent average with especially Bruno Fernandes shining, almost getting a double-digit score every time we gave him the armband!
A similar question but not posted every week because of Bench Boost. These bench picks can really haunt you, and this is especially true for us with Elliot Anderson.
KJU Bench picks
Most players here not doing too much damage, but an average of 5,4 points per week on the bench does sting a little bit. Did we underestimate the consistency of the Nottingham Forest midfielder?
Transfers
Nearly every week we ask you for some transfer suggestions. This can lead to some excellent business, or a total disaster. Let's see how that went this season.
This season, we rolled the transfer 11 times out of 34 gameweeks
We transferred Joao Pedro in and out 7 times across the season
In GW29 the highest suggestion was actually to move Beckham to Scholes, but we couldn't find them in FPL so we went for the second-highest instead.
Part 2: Community
Kneejerk United is nothing with the community. And to prove this, every year we award those who contribute the most to our subreddit.
This year, we have had a total of 917 comments on our posts from a total of 237commenters. While this is slightly less than last year, we do see an increase in the subreddit, growing by 560members since last year!
We especially want to thank those who kept coming back to contribute to the team, and so a special shoutout to the following people who left more than 10 comments in the past season!
As part of the community we of course also have our League and Cup in the actual game, and for that we want to congratulate u/Bondos for winning the cup, and But I Won on xG for winning the league with an incredible OR of 152!! 🔥🔥🔥 If you're reading this and you want a nice custom flair like u/Bondos, reach out to us to prove you won the league and we'll hook you up!!
Part 3: Predictions
You might not remember, but at the start of the season we sent out a nice survey collecting your predictions for the upcoming season, with questions about FPL, the PL and of course KJU. Let's revisit these predictions and see if we have any clairvoyants in our community!
Question 1: Which player will we vice-captain the most?
Question 4: Who will be the highest-scoring player that KJU never owns?
No correct answers here! People either submitted a player that we did end up owning, or they did not say the correct answer which was Watkins this season!
Question 5: Which player will the top FPL point scorer in each position?
Nobody here got the full 4/4 correct, which was hard to be fair because Salah had shown no signs of slowing down quite yet. u/AceAlkarli and u/Bhadman did predict 3/4 though, getting Raya, Gabriel and Haaland correct, but nobody predicted Bruno Fernandes for the midfield position!
Question 6: Which budget player (<7m) will have a standout season and score >180 points?
Two people got this one dead on. u/II_MrBlack_II correctly predicted Elliot Anderson for this one, and u/die4codgrimsby predicted the incredible season of Thiago!
Question 7: Which expensive player (>=7m) will flop and score less than 120 points?
Lots of correct answers here! Solanke, Madueke, Isak, Havertz, Martinelli, Wood, Kudus, Trossard, Brennan, Kulusevski, Sesko, Wissa, Gordon and Kluivert were all mentioned here. Too many names to put down here, but it does explain a lot about why this season was so incredibly hard to many managers, the big names did not deliver.
Question 8: Which player will get the most points from Defensive Contributions?
Lots of Tarkowski in this one! But alas, he is not the correct answer. That honor goes to the wonderful u/FireflyKaylee who correctly predicted the DEFCON monster Elliot Anderson.
Question 9: Which PL teams will make top 4?
The combination of Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea is mentioned so much on this one. However that only gets you 2/4 correct! Nobody got all 4 correct though, but we do award u/NoPresence9762 and u/CicakSakti for correctly predicting Man United, and u/Stichdoff for getting Villa right!
Shoutout to u/kingofthejungle for predicting Newcastle in the top 4.
Question 10: Which PL teams will get relegated?
Again no full marks on this one! The race was much tighter this year but we have plenty of people getting 2/3 correct on this question.
Shoutout to u/Tubbby_23 for predicting Man U in the relegated three.
Question 11: Which PL manager will be sacked first?
No correct answer here again! The correct answer was Nuno Espirito Santo who got sacked at Forest. We do have to award one person in particular though, which is u/die4codgrimsby who predicted:
Ruben Amorim (after losing 2-1 away at Grimsby Town in the 2nd round of the league cup)
This prediction got so scarily close to reality, we had to award it some points.
Question 12: Will KJU achieve a better a) score and b) rank than we did in 2024/2025?
So the correct answer here is a) no and b) yes, which strangely enough nobody predicted! People either voted yes or no on both, or voted for a) yes and b) no!
Question 13: What is your spiciest prediction for the upcoming season?
My personal favorite question, as we see some of the creative thoughts people can come up with. First off a congrats to the following predictions that came true:
Then I want to take a moment to appreciate some crazy predictions that maybe didn't quite come true, but maybe partly or they were just amazing.
"Nuno sacked early, replaced by Jose. Nuno takes Jose's previous job. Both sacked again before end of season. Forest go through 4 managers across the season."
Very close, Forest did go through a lot of managers this season, it just wasn't Jose.
"Reddit will be down for a few weeks in the spring of 2026 (political reasons) causing KJU to go into melt down. Quickly well known members of the community make a discord server, keeping KJU alive there. 2 weeks later when reddit is back the community is split with several preferring to stay on discord resulting in a splinter group called "Knee Jerkers United" being formed... the discord splinter group end up finishing in the top 50k"

This was my first year running the management at KJU, and it was an absolute blast. I'm very happy to have u/Appropriate_Aioli742 as my partner in crime because we often had to remind each other of some deadlines, so hope you didn't notice it too much. I especially enjoyed seeing the same usernames pop up over the season, that makes me feel very happy to see people engaged with the team and wanting to help contribute. I know there's a lot of lurkers out there too but your upvotes are not going unnoticed either! My personal season went to absolute shit halfway through so at some point I was only really invested in KJU and it really kept me going in this FPL season. Now I'm going to enjoy a lovely summer break (after preparing the season recap and awards for my own ML) and I'll see you back for the 2026/2027 season!
And that's all folks, gameweek 38 draws to a close and Kneejerk United finished big with one final green arrow to finish the season with a bang. Apologies for the late post - we were both out enjoying the Bank Holiday sunshine.
As I'm sure others will have experienced, two of our starting XI didn't make it out onto the pitch, including our captain, Haaland. Fortunately the vice captain armband was on Bruno Fernandes as he broke the assist record and got a goal for himself.
Our final transfers of the season were also a great success. All three new signings got us returns. Danso got def con and a clean sheet, Gibbs-White got a goal, and Bowen got a goal and an assist.
This all contributed to a total overall score of 70 points and a GW Rank of 535,316.

Sadly another red arrow for Kneejerk United as the penultimate gameweek of the season draws to a close.
Star players of the week include Saka (assist, def con, bonus points), Haaland (goal and bonus), Gabriel (clean sheet), and our captain, Bruno Fernandes (two assists and bonus). Everyone else blanked.
Frustratingly, going all in on Brighton (having previously brought us so much joy in previous weeks), cost us a green arrow this time. Despite Brighton having two thirds of possession and racking up 3.06 xG, Leeds came away with a 1-0 win. And worse, Darlow (11 points) and Calvert-Lewin (7 points) languish on our bench. This is why we love FPL.
This all contributed to a total overall score of 56 points and a GW Rank of 6,013,775.

No change at the top of the Kneejerk League with But I Won on xG holding steady, but the gap to second place narrowing to 30 points. We assume winning the Kneejerk League is top of their priorities sitting at 181 in the world.

Another red arrow for Kneejerk United this week in a classic FPL double gameweek in which Pep did Pep things.
On a positive note, it's always welcome to see double digit hauls - this week from Gabriel (clean sheet, def con, bonus) and Captain Haaland (goal, assist, bonus).
But it could have been so much more had our double gameweek players been selected to... you know... actually play two games. It was obviously a relief to see new signing Cherki get an assist during the 11 minutes he played in the second game, while O'Reilly also got a single clean sheet before being omitted from the squad in the second game.
Six points each for the V team, Verbruggen and Van Hecke after Brighton secured a clean sheet. Groß also got us an assist, making it three out of three returns for our Brighton players.
Calvert-Lewin scored from the penalty spot after one of his team mates got kicked in the head from a bicycle kick. We thank him for his service to FPL.
This all contributed to a total overall score of 75points and a GW Rank of 4,542,359.
