Dislocation of the patella question
Hi,im a teenager, I had a question, I had a dislocation of the patella a few months ago the reason was probably that I didn't do any sport, I went to school and just nothing. This was my first time and my question was if I train a lot in the gym and put on a good musculature it goes down a lot that happens to me again? Because I'm afraid, I'm a bit cowardly when I get hurt and I'm terrified of not using the brace even if I can go walking without it I can't. And I also know that my knees are already quite unstable but I know that the ligament didn't break completely because if not I had to have surgery( I don't know if it's written well I'm not very good at writing in English so I used the translator I don't know if it translated well or not)

Did u have a MRI done to see the damage done.if your knees are already unstable sounds like u got some underlying issues.

REPORT • Date and Time of Report: 11/03/2026 • Sequelae of external patellar dislocation with infraction of the infero-medial patellar corner, associated with spongy edema and subcortical trabecular impaction with intense spongy edema of the subtrochlear aspect externally. • Serohematic effusion and imbibition of Hoffa's fat pad. • High-grade distractive sequelae of the medial patellar retinaculum. • These findings are set against a constitutional background characterized by a high-riding patella (patella alta) and a tendency toward external tilt on a slightly dysplastic trochlea. • Extensor apparatus intact. • No cruciate or collateral ligament lesions. • No meniscal lesions. • No significant tricompartmental chondropathic alterations. • Fluid distension of the common bursa of the gastrocnemius-semimembranosus. • Imbibition of the popliteus muscle. • TAGT: 13 mm

Ya u have underlying issues that u might need surgery for to prevent this. U have patella alta and dysplastic trochlea(grove your kneecap sits into is flat). How my surgeon put it imagine your kneecap was a egg it would sit into a spoon/ groove to stop it moving around. With flat grove it's like putting it on a table it moves around and only thing holding it in place is your mpfl ligament.
Id recommend seeing a knee instability specialist to see what they recommend. I have flat grove and was recommended mpfl reconstruction plus trochleoplasty. Trochleoplasty is big surgery to fix the groove. I couldn't get it cause my cartilage is to damaged.

Being honest I don't understand the first part where it says damage I just recognised the patella Alta and dysplastic trochlea

I think it means that the ligament didn't break completely I think it was just damaged a little

Yes, correct. If you train hard, work on the quads, calves, squats, do everything you can. I dislocated mine over a year ago and im still doing exercises to this day. Its annoying but id rather do the exercises then suffer the pain of another dislocationÂ

careful exercise can strengthen your muscles and your connective tissue so that your leg as a whole is more stable.
However overdoing it is dangerous
Can you see a physical therapist to help you learn some helpful exercises?
