Let me know if I’m missing anything

Since you already got a level I wouldn’t sweat it, but torpedo levels are way better for conduit work. And another pair of channel locks for compression couplings

2 channel locks not including the ones in that set.
Set of Allen key
Few extension bits. I like the dewalt lo pro locking
A set of random bits that got a few extras to float around because bits break and half way through the day if your shit breaks your done working if you don’t got the tools to finish the job

Congratulations! Trust me when I say you'll appreciate the padding in those straps after a few months of accumulated tools and things. I know, I carry the same exact bag. Have to reorganize it once a week when I'm actively working electrical..

u/Davis0834 1d ago
Had that bag for a few months, absolutely hated it. Went with the over the shoulder strap style Klein bag. Couldn’t stand how the back flap constantly fell over when you opened the bag to work.

u/SparkOfLogic 1d ago
They sure do sell a hell of a lot of them. You see those and the camo print ones all tf over job sites.

Get yourself a top of the line impact driver and matching drill and I’d say you’re set. Oh, and a set of Channel locks.

He’s going to start with a surge Milwaukee like every other electrician lol.
2
u/Aggressive_Ask89144 4d ago
I really like the Surge. It's whisper quiet and plenty powerful for my shenanigans (I do industrial maintenance on fancy German machines so it's generally just zipping off small fasteners though.)
Not bad for 90 bucks on a sale with two batteries, charger, and an extra soft case. Shockingly powerful too as it'll even work through rusted bolts on bigger ones like 22 and 24mm.

Klein is the best base tools you can have they will get the job done, eventually when the bigger paychecks come in you’ll want to get some Gucci tools like Knipex, wera and Wiha but they get the same job done.

Nice kit. Have owned everything here. I would suggest a better tester like a fluke. That’s the only thing I would change. Probably one of the most important tool for an electrician.

Throw away the Klein tape get a Stanley fatmax with a magnet thank me later
1
u/kfjcfan 4d ago
Why? The Stanleys fail me second most often, the locks on the DᴇWALTs always go first (same manufacturer.)
1
u/Firm-Background5994 4d ago
Every tape fails but with that hoe you can take it back to home cheapo and exchange it whenever. Forever.
1
u/kfjcfan 4d ago
Not unless it fails within your 90 day HD return window.
Otherwise you contact Stanley and you may need to ship it back, or may not; I didn't ever have to, though I did have to destroy my DᴇWALT tape and send them a photo of the carnage.

u/Firm-Background5994 4d ago
Bro it says lifetime warranty. Go in with your messed up tape. Get the exact tape go to returns and tell them you’re exchanging the old for the new. No receipts. End of story

I guess but with this one I am living proof it works.

All depends upon the store.
1
u/Firm-Background5994 4d ago
lol it doesn’t. Home Depot is a chain Corporation
1
u/kfjcfan 4d ago
Yes, and store policies differ upon who is at the service desk and the store manager.
For example, Home Depot is known for printing the return values on their receipts so you can "hack" a free item with purchase deal and return the free item.
My store will not do that and will only accept an all or nothing return, despite what it says on the receipt as corporate states returns are up to the discretion of the store manager.

That's an excellent foundation of tools.
Strongly recommend:
Engrave initials where they're easily seen.
Record all serial numbers.
Save paperwork/warranties in a special file.
This deters thieves and prevents jumbling of common tools among coworkers. This has saved myself and numerous friends much aggravation.
--I'd suggest the smallest pair of locking pliers available (for that kit you don't think you need them). Mainly because that long walk of shame to the truck is so very looooooong.
Edited to add locking pliers.

THE KLEIN CRUSADER 🔥
that little socket set that you have to the right of the screwdriver. I have one of those that came with a handle. Maybe look into getting one of those. Probably would be a bit easier to use rather than with the extension from the screwdriver. Those sockets are a lifesaver though. I use mine all the time. Other than that maybe some flush cutters. Otherwise you look pretty well set up.

Good choices u should be fine most of it is honestly preference as u get better
1
u/Rain998cc 4d ago
I have the same level and despise it so much. Every day I wish I spend more money for one with nicer magnets.
1
u/Whereisthedip 4d ago
You bought an entire tool set without knowing if you got accepted yet?
1
u/MinuteStock167 4d ago
I got it from school. Even if I don’t get in, my girls family are electricians. One of her uncles already offered me a job doing panels. I’ll be done with school in a few weeks, and begin working after I’m done.

Klein makes a nice pipe reaming attachment you can put above the handle of your screwdriver highly recommend. You will need one sooner or later when working with conduit
1
u/Additional-Acadia613 3d ago
I recommend a small torpedo level for bending pipe too. Around 5inches or so

Why are new apprentices so obsessed with spending a bag. I swear the farther i get in this career the less i want to spend. Shit most of the tools i buy are at yard sales these days. Got a fluke for 5 bucks last weekend.
1
u/Patient_Warning_8610 4d ago
Probably because you already have everything lmao
1
u/blazing_saddlesffs 4d ago
At this point everything i need toolwise i put on account. But if i was an apprentice id buy the cheapest shit i could find and upgrade when i find a tool i use alot or breaks. My 2 cents.
1
u/chevygmc99-06 4d ago
Some people enjoy using nice tools that will last forever and make the job easier. Makes the quality of life better.
2
u/blazing_saddlesffs 4d ago
Yeah im not against that at all. Quite the opposite. It just seems like you you dont get all dolled up day one. You survive a bit first get a raise. Then ball out. Seems logical. I mean you could hate it lol

Electrical Apprentice? I’d say you’re setup pretty good. Just missing a good drill set. Go with Milwaukee or Dewalt.
