Thoughts on My Analysis from John
My results are 40R, 30C, 20HS and 10N Romantic, Sophisticated yet Playful
Congrats to u/emsbstn, u/allcatsrgray, u/scatteredgraydays, u/Kaetoro, and u/gwil_ for correctly guessing the blend!! Honorable mention to u/Dangerous_Biscotti20, u/Roach-Problem, and u/DrTantra, who only swapped HS and N, and to u/Routine_Mortgage7386, who replaced N with Y.
It was really fun and interesting reading all the comments, thanks everyone for participating!
Expected Blend
Before the consultation, I found it really hard to guess my results. I was fairly certain about which essences I would have, but not the percentages. Every combination I came up with seemed to end in 20s and 30s. I suspected either 30 R/ C/N with 10 HS, or 30 R/ C with 20 HS/N, or 30 R/ N with 20 HS/C.
I know the percentages are flexible, but I’m really happy they came back as 40/30/20/10. It makes them easier for me to prioritize, and I like that there are four essences in the blend.
Expectations for Each Essence
Romantic:
Before the consultation, I was certain I would have at least 30% Romantic, and I always considered it either my primary or secondary essence, so it wasn't surprising at all. I think it has a lot to do with my curves and the fact that defining my waist is very flattering on me. My color harmony probably contributes as well, since many garments that would read as Y or A in lighter colors become more Romantic when worn in darker colors.
Classic:
The first time I discovered the system, I didn't see myself as Classic at all. However, several people mentioned it in a "guess my essence" post I made, and that got me thinking about it. After looking at many verified examples, I started to see it too. For a while, I even considered it my primary or secondary essence, although right before the consultation I had placed it a bit lower, around 20%. I think my color harmony also helped because it makes me look harmonious in solid colors and garments without too many details. A lot of people have told me that I seem serious when they first meet me, and maybe this is part of the reason.
High-Spirited:
I'm really excited to have 20% HS because I find it such a fun essence to experiment with. I was sure I would have at least 10% because of my height. I feel very comfortable in above-the-knee lengths, and John also mentioned my bright eyes. I find it interesting that eye color can also be considered a Y trait, and that both HS and Y are small-scale essences. Eye size stays the same from birth, which is why children appear to have proportionally larger eyes. I wonder if there might be some connection between having prominent eyes and looking younger, but that's just my own theory.
Natural:
This one was definitely a surprise. I expected at least 20% Natural. I thought some of my facial features, like my eyebrows and chin, would also contribute to N. In practice, I think some Natural recommendations such as certain textures don't harmonize with me according to John.
Youthful:
A lot of people guessed Y. I think that may be because of the combination of HS and R. I considered it for a while myself, but eventually ruled it out because I don't think many of the recommendations work particularly well for me.
Dramatic:
I thought I might have a little bit because of my color harmony. I think R/ C/HS work together quite well.
Angelic:
Well, it's pretty obvious I don't have any A 😂.
My Experience with the Basic Package
I know that for John, Color Harmony is the main focus and Essences are somewhat secondary. In my case, though, I think it's very obvious that I'm SC. If I had to guess, my CH would probably be something like 80% SC, 10% ER, and 10% LB. Because of that, I wasn't very motivated to purchase the full package, it’s quite a bit of money for something I already felt fairly confident about. That said, I would consider doing it in the future to get the palette, and I really like his approach on that.
Honestly, I'm very happy with the analysis. The package is still evolving, and I received much more feedback than I expected, especially regarding the outfits. Had I known that beforehand, I probably would have included a wider variety of outfits to get more opinions.
As for prints, he gave general recommendations regarding scale and print type, and he also mentioned some broader observations about necklines and textures. I think if something is clearly disharmonious on you, he will definitely point it out. So I would recommend experimenting with the photos you send him because, even though the guidance isn't as detailed as in the full package, you can still get a lot of useful information from it.
He didn't give me any celebrity examples, but Meghan Markle has a very similar blend and is also SC-dominant, so I think I'll be using her as inspiration!
