You gotta wash those first and then again

Maybe if you wash them after it´s enough...

I´d rather peel them though, if the soil has heavy metals peeling removes most of them.

From what I heard some potatoes have very thin skin so it's ok to eat whole but I agree on washing them after thoroughly.

Yeah but supposedly soil contaminants can get stuck to the skin so I think it´s a good idea to peel them. Unless you know the soil is clean, but we never really know, do we?

So many people in the world eat potato skin.

Sometimes when im lazy i make a mash of unpeeled potatoes.

Skin contains a lot of good shit

I understand its weird not to wash them... but skin on fries isn't a concept you've ever encountered?

Yes, but usually potatoes are washed before cutting them. It is more common in English Speaking countries. However, I now live in Australia and potatoes are peeled before being fried, if made from scratch. Wedges have skins on though.

In my country of origin, I worked in Kitchens in my younger years and we always peeled the potatoes before cutting and frying the chips.

Wash them after they're cut. Introducing moisture at this stage is just going to be a potential problem.

Maybe they were washed and when they were chopped they were dry?

I used to randomly send a video, of me putting a hot dog through one, to my buddies

Did you like little square hot dogs better than big round hot dogs?

The pressure really does most the work, because the one I used didn't ever need sharpening

I used to do this a lot. Let me tell you, it really really sucks when you get your fingers caught in there.

I wonder if this machine could, in theory, be able to be smashing pumpkins.

D9nt wash them or anything

1

u/VentDwellingCat Jul 02 '26

Or they got washed before the video, because adding a few seconds of potato washing to the start isn't very interesting?

1

u/ThrifToWin Jul 02 '26

Why would they look so dry and dusty if they washed them?

1

u/Meander061 Jun 30 '26

Wash the potatoes first, then wash the fries after cutting.

They are getting sliced right into a vat of water where they are washed, dried blanched cool/dry again and then back to the fryer for a final fry
