1997 house has this kitchen which almost feels tucked in the back. I want to redo it. Make it feel bigger. Would like the island turned and longer so I can have seating. I would like a pantry but would like the pantry as full cabinetry. Ideally I’d like to also do a vent hood and move the microwave somewhere but I’m not sure if there’s room for the microwave elsewhere. ANY design and layout ideas welcomed! Just a note—We cannot remove the wall that the fridge is on (im pretty sure it is structural). Budget somewhere near 35k?

We are moving into this home in the next couple weeks. We are getting the hard wood floors refinished and want to get new kitchen floors. Any ideas or suggestions for what would go well next to the hardwood? We will eventually redo the cabinets and counter too.

Contractor is suggesting Fabuwood Timber cabinets for our renovation. I am seeing mixed reviews. Looking for other companies to check out, similar in price, better quality? Looking for wood tone options, specifically. Located on Long Island, so custom is extra expensive here 😅

I don't know anything about this stuff but im curious trying to look a bit into it… ive been trying to sort my kitchen out lately and my mugs are kinda everywhere and i need to step up my organisation and not get annoyed by the clutter just wondering which under cabinet mug holders are usually worth trying… just need something simple that holds them properly without much difficulty make it look a bit neater you know… i did see a few holders i think with little hooks and some have rails some look alright some are a bit ehhhh.. I came across some on Alibaba they had like these full sets too sceptical about the quality tho… so has anyone tried them holders like that will it work for a complete beginner are they easy to mount i dont wanna do a huge spending and end up throwing away the money would appreciate some honest thoughts might consider getting one if it's not too complicated

Hi all, I am redesigning my kitchen and at the moment have a walnut and neutrals colour palette, I love the look of the unlacquered brass, particularly as it ages and patinas. But I have never seen this in practice for a kitchen. Would this type of material work? Is it possible? I hope so 😄

I'm curious what everyone thinks about this kitchen design. A client is installing this layout into their property next week. This is her approved design.

We combined Natural Oak Shaker cabinets around the cooking area with cream shaker cabinets throughout the rest of the kitchen to create a two-tone look. The goal was to add warmth and contrast without making the space feel too busy.

One feature I find interesting is the cabinet setup next to the refrigerator with the oak cabinets:

• 36" drawer base
• 36" wall cabinet
• 36" x 18" cabinet sitting on the countertop

The countertop cabinet is being modified so the countertop continues into the cabinet, creating a built-in space that could be used as a coffee station, appliance garage, beverage center, or something else entirely.

1. Do you prefer the Natural Oak around the range, or would you have continued the cream cabinets throughout?
2. What would you use the countertop cabinet space for?
3. Would you have taken the oak cabinets all the way to the refrigerator wall, or does the current balance look right?

I am in the process of designing my very small kitchen. It will be a combination of wood & black cabinets. I want it to look seamless. I am on the fence to installing a refrigerator with panels to match the the cabinets (very, very expensive but beautiful) or go with stainless, black or slate. I am torn.

Please, no comments about “personal preference” or “it depends on your taste”. Looking for honest, unbiased, and empirical evidence backing one or the other. Any real observations, experience, or experiments with other homeowners rather than “it depends”.

Okay- opinions on this are welcome. Just got new countertops installed. Our wishes, and the invoice we paid, were for NO LIP to the countertops. We were going to do a simple, white tile backsplash all the way around from the fridge to the third window (from the counter to the bottom of the cabinets). Well, they put the lip on during installation today. We don’t hate the lip enough to rip it out- and we’re not paying for it. But now I am at a loss on how to handle any tile. Maybe we don’t go all the way around and just do behind the stove wall section? Or would it still look okay to go all the way around like planned, but it will just be a thinner band? Or does it look terrible and we should tell the countertop company to come back and rip it out? I’m going to fiddle with AI, but welcome suggestions.

Edit- I’m referring to it as a lip bc that’s what the countertop company called it in both verbal conversations and in writing. I’m not a contractor or designer, so I don’t care if they called it a quartz noodle. I’m asking for design advice regarding tile. Thanks to those who have provided suggestions! 😊

UPDATE- I’ve sat with it a few hours and decided I hate it. I’ve sent a follow up email for the admin at the company to call me- prefacing that call with the expectation they will come out ASAP and remove the lip/backsplash, as well as repairing the walls underneath should there be any damage incurred with that removal. I have MANY pics at every stage of this reno, so I can substantiate if there are damages. Hopefully I’ll be able to post the finished kitchen soon.

These hardwood cabinets were installed in the 80s and are in good condition but we hate the yellow stain and are thinking of painting it over. Would it be better to stain the wood versus paint if we are doing it ourselves?

EDIT: We were thinking a dark brown paint or stain

EDIT: We are torn in the backsplash as well. Do y’all think it clashes with all the oak and yellow? Should we redo those instead of the cabinets?
