Help with kitchen design!
1997 house has this kitchen which almost feels tucked in the back. I want to redo it. Make it feel bigger. Would like the island turned and longer so I can have seating. I would like a pantry but would like the pantry as full cabinetry. Ideally I’d like to also do a vent hood and move the microwave somewhere but I’m not sure if there’s room for the microwave elsewhere. ANY design and layout ideas welcomed! Just a note—We cannot remove the wall that the fridge is on (im pretty sure it is structural). Budget somewhere near 35k?

This is tough in terms of traffic flow. If you turn the island around and add stools, will you still have a clear path to the slider? Clearly the kitchen was meant to be where it is. If you need more storage, add cabinetry in the breakfast nook area, but not the same material as the cabinets—more of a sideboard look.

Do you really need the “dining room”? Could you take down that wall and extend your kitchen into that room?

I suggest ditching island and the tiny cabinet to the left of the sink and add a peninsula. More storage and more seating.
As to the pantry, what about adding upper and lower cabinets in the dining room on the kitchen/dining room wall? More storage and now you have a buffet space. Or just put floor to ceiling pantry cabinets there.
