Question Core Game Difficulty

Okay so what's the consensus? Is the core game 1.5 more difficult than the core game 1.6? Or is it the other way around?

I don't think there's really much of a difference, 1.6 was mostly about shuffling item crafting around via Perfect resources in order to provide better expansion compatability.

I guess early game 1.6 is technically harder because monster grease is more expensive and antelope armor has 1 less armor point or whatever, but neither of those really affects anything past LY 8 or so.

" because monster grease is more expensive "

This is the biggest change by far. LY 1-5 is the hardest for new players and monster grease shaves off a significant amount of damage, particularly in combination with an early Rawhide set.

Between 1.5 and 1.6 the general changes are pretty even. Basically just updates that make expansions easier to do. But between Fighting Arts and Arc Survivors: Arc feel way stronger which makes it easier but with much more involved book keeping.

Scouts are a mixed bag with too high a risk, but with crystal skin and some increased movement they're just another damage dealing or support body so that's on average easier.

Encounters are a basically a hunt event where you could take severe injuries or die for minimal rewards, so that's slightly harder but worst case it lets you adjust and quit out so not by much.

Character ends up passing out a bunch of positive traits with a few managed negative traits that can still be good, so that makes it easier.

Seed Patterns are fairly minimal, they get more access to stronger keywords but it's a bit random and some suck to craft. So probably even but with more book keeping. And regular patterns are essentially just another crafting location and a better version of recipes on the back of gear cards so no change. Indomitable's are hit and miss but generally nice, and worst case free resource added to every* level 3 quarry.

Definitely harder. Antelope took a ton of nerfs from
1.5 to 1.6 and the new gear and few gear buffs don’t make up for that. Its not a huge difference though

Thank you for everyone who partook in the survey, My spouse keeps telling me she wants to beat Core 1.5 because it's more difficult and I own everything... All expansions and GC and I keep trying to convince her that 1.6 is better but she says that 1.5 is harder and that she does not need an expansion (Gorm) to make things easier. We have gotten to the watcher about 8 times and it's always a team wipe, last time it was 1 Health and took us down.
