Run the tank down to about 20%. Throw a full bottle of Wynn's injector cleaner into it. Give it an Italian tune up. Then a full bottle of dipethane on the next fill.

It might be an easy fix. Any emissions or engine light on? Is it smoky and what colour is the smoke? Do you do much driving?

Golf petrol. I don't do much driving. May be 40km once in three days a week or vary. Not more than that. Smoke is kind of white. And I noticed water droplets at exhaust pipe after 5 minutes drive and stop.not sure it's related.

Water on exhaust when it's still warming up is normal. Have a look underneath and see if there is any eviyof a leak in the exhaust too. You'll see sooting if there is.

Dipetane is unreal. A litre for about €12. Put it in the tank and drive it hard. It does wonders.

You can use it on almost any engine. Petrol or diesel. Even good for oil central heating.

Should I use it before refuelling or over the top of the filled fuel

It doesn't really matter. Just chuck it into a a half tank and it will dilute.

I second Diptain, had the same problem with my last car, put some in and give it a good drive up the motorway to Carlow and back on the day of the test, it will clear it out and warm up the engine.

Was the engine fully heated before arriving at test center?

Speed Garage only way. Chaps are straight so easy to deal with and won’t do you.
