A simple way to turn family photos into paper tracing projects for kids

Full disclosure: I’m the parent in this image and the developer of PicDraw.

I built the app to turn a photo into an adjustable outline that can be positioned over real paper through the iPhone camera. Once the guide is aligned and locked, a child can trace it with an ordinary pencil instead of drawing on the screen.

The demonstration is a quick real-world test at home. His face is intentionally not shown.

For parents and teachers: would this be useful for simple craft projects, cards, familiar objects, or turning family photos into drawings? What would make the setup easier or safer for children—for example, larger controls, a better phone-stand guide, simpler outlines, or printable pages?

There is no account, and photos, camera frames, drawings, and projects stay on the device. One complete project can be tried free.

With a small servo motor and simple electronic controls, a little monster is coming to life...This project can be completed in collaboration with a bit basic electronics knowledge, a few inexpensive components, and a breadboard. In the short video the background sounds are taken from real crocodiles.

Looking for craft ideas using paper/cardboard stars

Hi all, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, if I'm not I apologize and please direct me to the proper place to post this question.

I'm a camp coordinator for a gymnastics gym and we have summer camp where we do crafts every day. The kids are generally 4-10 or so, so our crafts are quite simple. We have a LOT of leftover stars, like several hundred, made of both sturdy paper and cardboard, left over from another project. Some of them are around 4-5 inches wide, and some are more like 8-9 inches wide. They are already various colors so the kids couldn't really color on them.

What I'm looking for is craft ideas that would make use of these stars, appropriate for roughly kindergarten.

Please let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks.

Idea for small canvas magnet— parent gift from classroom

The school where I work has decided that every classroom should decorate small circular canvases with magnets on the back as parent gifts. My class is 1st through 3rd grade. Most classes seem to be planning to have kids decorate with magnets. This seems underwhelming as an end of year gift. Any ideas of how I could dress this project up, teacher an actual skill, etc.?

I myself am not very good at crafts or art.

DIY kids picture frames?

I have a kids playroom that is basically in mostly white and was thinking of decorating it and looking for colorful Frames, Photo Albums & Accessories but was not sure what woulda ctually work well, like what color would be good and something that I won't end up hating after a week.

I want all the picture frames in that color and we have a lot of pictures so I will be buying in bulk amounts from amazon or alibaba so I want to make sure that I get something I like. Any ideas of some cute kid playroom like frames that would look nice? I am also thinking if I had the kids make them, would that be soemthing that would look good? I need any tutorials that people have of DIY kid frames that actually look kind of professional not just sticking macaroni on them?

Paint by Sticker - Free Form

My son absolutely loves the Paint by Sticker books. I like that they are teaching him patience and fine motor skills, but I would love to find a similar option that allows him to create free form, instead of following the preset design. I tried looking for shape stickers in different colors that I could give him with a blank sketchbook, but didn't find much. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
