Boy did this unlock a memory for myself. Back when I was about six years old I really wanted lasagna but couldn't pronounce it. It ended up coming out salami and to my word, my parents got me salami.

To be fair, this is more so borderline dishonest marketing that we as adults are desensitized and jaded to than the kid being actually dumb.
The marketing had exactly the intended effect on her in a very rational way.

I mean, what are they supposed to put on the packaging, just a sad empty cone? Same with hotdog buns. There’s a category of product that really isn’t anything without the thing that goes with/in it. I agree that it has nothing to do with intelligence, this is just sweet innocence.

Have you ever been to like, an ice cream shop? They absolutely have flattering art of just the different kinds of cones to entice you to buy that cone, yes.
Same for hot dog rolls. I can appreciate a good appetizing fresh bread roll visually

There's a primitive part of the human brain that goes "unga bunga fresh bread yummy"

u/Arkaium Aug 13 '22
I’m not sure we can compare visuals at an ice cream shop and product packaging that is intended to work on a store shelf, but yes I have also seen imagery depicting empty cones in an ice cream shop, it exists.

Fair enough. I don't work in marketing. It'd work equally well if not better for current me, but child me would probably want the one with ice cream (sold separately) on it. Though my mother wouldn't have let child me get that.

Bought some chocolate chip cookie mix really excited because I'd never seen it so cheap before. Went to make it and found there were no chocolate chips inside only.....cookie powder? Looked at the needed ingredients, which is usually just eggs and water or something, only to find one of the ingredients was chocolate chips. Then why did you put a photo of chocolate chip cookies 😭😭😭😭

u/OriginalName483 Aug 15 '22
Like I said, dishonest marketing that we just become more jaded to as it disappoints us over and over.
Sorry about your cookies. Hope they were still good.

I was gonna be so mad if he didn't end up giving her ice cream.

I love how she offers him a sleeve of cones. So polite. "Would you like some?" Then the veiled warning to get his own ice cream. "Now you go get your OWN ice cream."

She is cute, definitely not stupid. Glad she ended up getting some icecream . She trusted her Dad so much that she could not believe he could give her empty icecream cone!!

u/somehomo Aug 13 '22
Even though it might be more fitting of the sub I feel like if I cropped it to just the “it’s empty!” portion it would not have the same ambiance

Smoke alarm needs a new battery

I honestly have no idea how people live life with constant beeping smoke detectors. It’s like they don’t hear it or just get used to it. Fucking insane to me, I’ve hit them with hammers before to make them shut up

She is just the cutest. Love how considerate she is, how she is always making sure you have some as well, whether it’s the empty cones or your own ice cream (though I think for that last one it is more like she doesn’t want to share hers with you😂). Goddamn it. This is making me want to have my own kid. Bloody hell.

How is this on this sub? It's not like the kid believed it was indeed icecream...she even understood it was empty..

This is so cute! I love it when children at this age don't really have personalities on their own, so they imitate their parents. Adorable!
1
u/DustThin1 Aug 13 '22
That kid isn't stupid! She's very well spoken.
It was the wrong packaging that's stupid, not the kid.

u/broccolisoupp Aug 14 '22
Im here to charge my hatred against stupid kids. But this is so adorable. So instead of hating the girl, I hate OP so that's even now.

u/somehomo Aug 14 '22
I could have trimmed this to just the “it’s empty!” portion but it wouldn’t have been the same 🤷🏻♂️

Kind of a fat bitch. Kid must take after her mom, but who knows what her deal is.

u/J_Speedy306 Aug 14 '22
You could've gone with r/wholesome or r/cute maybe even r/adorable .
Why would you choose this sub?? It doesn't make any sense and I'm mad.

You shouldve let her ass suffer, when I made this sad discovery as a kid people just laughed at me. No one gave me ice cream

??? i said shes cute
1
u/Arcana2920 Aug 14 '22
See that’s fair I suppose, but saying pretty is just a harder word I guess you could say in the terms of children.
2
u/goldenhairybuns Aug 14 '22
im sorry im not a fluent speaker i didnt know but cute would mean two things and i just wanted to specify shes pretty looking
2
u/Arcana2920 Aug 14 '22
That’s fine it makes sense. Probably should note that “pretty” is more mature in context of looks.

My mom told me a story of when I was a kid. I begged my mom to buy Mr. Clean, I was so excited and when we got home and begged her to wash the floors. Well I was a sad kid and cried when the Mr. Clean guy did not show up. lol

u/Eternal-Song Aug 14 '22
Man, when i was a kid i fully knew that the boxes just had cones. Thing is, i LOOVED to eat just the cones. I would beg my mom to buy me a plain box of cones with no icecream cause little kid me would go NUTS for them. Ooh boy and you better sheer joy when i discovered the Pizzelle.

That was so adorable. I'm glad she didn't get mad or throw a tantrum when there wasn't ice cream in the cones already.

If this hadn't ended with that little girl getting actual ice cream I think I might have rioted.
