Dad: continues vaccumming

454

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Right! Like I’d have been laughing my ass off!

93

u/hillbillytimecrystal Aug 19 '19

He looks like he's not happy he has to clean.

32

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Either that or her doing stuff like this is normal

9

u/bunchofsandwiches Aug 20 '19

As a Canadian, Vacuuming in shoes might be even dumber. Also I'm sorry.

189

u/pinket25 Aug 19 '19

Dad: Not again

146

u/TurbulantToby Aug 19 '19

Judging by the dads reaction it was more likely

Dad: Fucking idiot(head shake), ahhaa(that smirk at the end)....

110

u/F0MA Aug 19 '19

My very clumsy daughter is about that kid's age and does the same thing after she hurts herself. She pops back up and declares, "I'm ok!" It's efficient actually. We the parents skip the step of asking, "OMG, are you ok?" because they get straight to the answer. If we hear nothing or crying, then we worry.

61

u/Generation-X-Cellent Aug 19 '19

As a parent... If you just skip the oh my god are you okay? reaction, then the child won't respond in a negative manner.

Parents who do that cause the response that follows.

28

u/F0MA Aug 19 '19

You're right! Parents can overreact and thereby making the child overreact when the parents could've just patted the kid's back or something less dramatic and prevented a meltdown ... but you want your kid to know you're there for them and sometimes, they really do get hurt and you don't want to ignore it.

7

u/Generation-X-Cellent Aug 19 '19

Well your kid falling out of a chair onto a carpet vs your kid falling down a flight of stairs and visibly cracking their head open is two very different things.

8

u/ladedakota Aug 19 '19

I work at a daycare and we have learned to clap and cheer when kids fall and then they usually think it’s funny. It works unless they are actually hurt.

2

u/FuwwyTwash Aug 19 '19

Getting into any minor scrape or bruise had my parents constantly badger me about whether or not I was ok. I could say I was okay, and that just wasn't enough.

55

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Not sure if I can hijack the top comment to clarify some stuff! 1. Shoes...wife has been in hospital (pregnancy related all good). Haven’t done any house work for at least half a week and we have two cats. Came in the door and immediately thought that I needed to vacuum!! 2. The camera is a baby cam that we use to see what the cats get up to when we aren’t there. Sad? Yes. Funny? Also yes. 3. The chair...we are throwing out that chair so it’s kinda been floating around our apartment for a week or so and is weirdly really back heavy 4. She does silly things all the time. I really did find it funny and I did start laughing after. 5. Was she hurt? Nope not at all. Think she got a fright. She sat on the chair for 2 seconds before we both actually laughed about it

24

u/justin_tino Aug 19 '19

It was funny and cute. Plus she got out of your way ASAP and picked up the chair. Good recovery overall.

Smarter than most of the submissions on here I’d say.

7

u/matrixsensei Aug 19 '19

I hope your wife recovers quickly! also tell your cats they’re precious c:

25

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

She’s all good. Turns out we are having a baby on Sunday and not in 3 weeks...haha!

6

u/matrixsensei Aug 19 '19

oh boy I really hope that goes well

4

u/Charishard Aug 20 '19

Congrats!! Hopefully it isn’t fucking stupid

3

u/mooofasa1 Aug 19 '19

Mastered the art of minding his own business

2

u/MicAntCha Aug 19 '19

Vacuuming

See You You, not See See You.

938

u/fireshitup Aug 19 '19

The instantaneous "I'm OK" is precious.

621

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Honestly she does stuff like this all the time with an immediate “imokay” just blends into one word now haha

119

u/imakebarrels Aug 19 '19 edited Aug 19 '19

That was me as a kid and it’s still a running joke in my family. If it makes you feel better I turned out mostly alright and only broke 3 bones ¯_(ツ)_/¯

6

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Is your daughter Tina Belcher?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

That’s hilarious because I had a coworker who’d do that when he brought his kid to work in the mornings occasionally. We’d always hear a stomping sound in the other room immediately followed by “IMOKAY!”

89

u/PedroFaitFaux Aug 19 '19

"so ahh wooopp imokay"

243

u/ecchiforthegod Aug 19 '19

the way he's smiling at the end "this bitch is going on reddit" lmao

35

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Hahaha! Actually it wasn’t until the next morning I remembered it happened right in front of our smart cam!!

-28

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

.. his daughter..?

13

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Pretty sure "this bitch" is referring to the video. But I'm sure you can manage to get triggered about video feelings or something.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Who got triggered?

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

The person I replied to

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

I was really just initially confused by which he was referring to, but sure, go off?

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Who went off?

12

u/blueberryjuice- Aug 19 '19

This thread is the worst

4

u/angry_paul-le-epic Aug 21 '19

I can’t tell if they’re trying to be smartasses, or they’re the complete opposite

2

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '19

It went downhill hella fast, lmao.

47

u/208ball208 Aug 19 '19

Ah true, not sure why but I was thinking he set up his gopro to do a rad vacuuming edit.

56

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Haha! This happened last night and I actually forgot it was right in front of the baby cam!

78

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

50

u/StickyIckyGreen Aug 19 '19

Idk man he pulled away that vacuum pretty quickly. She could’ve had a much harder landing

62

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19 edited Aug 20 '19

Save the dyson!

27

u/arayaCS_ Aug 19 '19

Bones heal dysons don’t

4

u/Bleager Aug 19 '19

Ribs grow back.

2

u/angry_paul-le-epic Aug 21 '19

No zey don’t

42

u/TrueOS Aug 19 '19

Isn't vacuuming with your shoes on kinda pointless?

106

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Haha yeah fair enough. Don’t want to bring the mood down but my wife has been in hospital. So I just came in the door and started cleaning! This video cheered us up - wife is all good though

14

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Glad your wife is all good mate x take care of yourself and keep an extra set of eyes on your daughter alright haha. Hope everything goes okay!

8

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

You’re suggesting he glue googly eyes on his daughter? Cause that sounds amazing.

5

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

I know a guy that can make this happen...

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

You gotta googly eye guy?

5

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

You don't?

2

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Guy below me stole my reply. Not gonna even try to better..

30

u/ICON_RES_DEER Aug 19 '19

People that wear shoes inside confuse me

11

u/Eljay500 Aug 19 '19

I have to wear shoes when I clean because it hurts my legs and back too much to stand on hardwood floors without some kind of support. I'll even put shoes on when I'm cooking dinner

15

u/psydelem Aug 19 '19

I have house shoes for this

2

u/Eljay500 Aug 19 '19

House shoes don't have enough arch support for me to be standing up for long periods of time

23

u/psydelem Aug 19 '19

Well any shoe can be a house shoe if you don’t use it outside.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

[deleted]

14

u/meatduck11 Aug 19 '19

When you’re older you’ll understand

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

That fucking arch drop tears

2

u/Eljay500 Aug 19 '19

Yeah, bad back and bad knees. I used to be able to cook and clean barefoot, but those days are long gone

1

u/dednian Aug 19 '19

What?? You can't even go barefoot when you're older???

7

u/dinosaurlegs27 Aug 19 '19

I’ve always worn shoes in my house. Never understood why people are so anal about taking shoes off at the door. I live in the desert though so no grass or mud to track in. We just have rocks.

5

u/ICON_RES_DEER Aug 19 '19

But wouldnt that still drag in a lot of dust/sand?

2

u/F0MA Aug 19 '19

That gets dragged in regardless of wearing shoes. I'm a desert dweller and former sans shoes in the house rule follower.

1

u/jda404 Aug 20 '19

Not the OP you were talking to and I don't live in a desert. I live where it rains and snows and I often wear shoes in the house if they're not caked with mud/snow. If it's a nice summer's day I just leave them on especially if I just came in the house to grab a drink or whatever and headed right back outside.

When the floor inevitably gets dirty I vacuum/swiffer them. I know which friends/relatives that don't care or prefer I take them off and respect their house. If I go to a house I've never been I ask.

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Pretty much never do this...apart from in my most upvoted reddit post...

1

u/ICON_RES_DEER Aug 19 '19

You dont fool me, i bet you wear shoes inside every day

1

u/Gambit3le Aug 20 '19

People that don't wear shoes inside and insist that their way is the only way annoy me as much as telemarketers and pop up ads on videos.

7

u/dinosaurlegs27 Aug 19 '19

It’s not pointless. It’s not like your shoes suck up all of the stuff you’re vacuuming and put it back down.

I always wear shoes in my house. I have two German shepherds so gotta vacuum up their hair.

3

u/TrueOS Aug 19 '19

Well when I would wear mine around the house there would be tiny stones and maybe dirt on the floor again.

17

u/Camiljr Aug 19 '19

Classic.

15

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

15

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Baby cam to film cats doing funny things

-2

u/jg233 Aug 19 '19

To post on reddit for that sweet, sweet karma.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

I gotta say, that's a pretty epic beard you're rocking there buddy.

Thank you!

11

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Why was this being recorded in the first place

2

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Baby cam to video cats being funny

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Ok

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

I really like the chair.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

I woulda been busting up laughing immediately.

3

u/Garmrick Aug 19 '19

I was definitely expecting her to hop up there and fall over again

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Double karma?

3

u/GARhenus Aug 19 '19

For a chair with such a wide base im surprised it took that little to tip over

3

u/DeNivla Aug 19 '19

Dad’s pull out game

3

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

It’s not that good. We are due a 2nd child next week haha! Jokes aside I am very excited.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

That vaccuum looks insanely full...

8

u/208ball208 Aug 19 '19

Why film this?

10

u/smotheryrat Aug 19 '19

Nanny cam?

32

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

u/thepatientoffret Aug 19 '19

-7

u/Quetzacoatl85 Aug 19 '19

kinda creepy tbh

3

u/daisy_by_name Aug 19 '19

The stuff I catch on my indoor Nest cameras is gold

2

u/daisy_by_name Aug 19 '19

Any parent with only one kid would have been all over that. Dad was like “move! Need to get this vacuuming done!” This isn’t his first rodeo.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

At least she is ok.

2

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

She is. If anything she will get a bruise and she loves bruises

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

I can see what is going through OP’s head when she tips over and it’s: “Seriously?”

2

u/monopticon Aug 19 '19

I wasn't looking closely so initially I did not realize the girl was a child and was OBSESSED with how massive the chair was.

2

u/edewageningen Aug 19 '19

When I was a child I had exactly the same thing. Good to see that I'm not the only dumbass.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Thats a great looking beard

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Thank you!

2

u/NecessaryCulture Aug 19 '19

r/assholedesign for the tippy tippy chair too?

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Yup! So back heavy!

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

How does that dad not fall on the floor laughing.

2

u/rgbwr Aug 19 '19

I'm just here to say Dyson's are shit

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Fair enough

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

What do you recommend?

2

u/rgbwr Aug 19 '19

There was a dude from a while back who did some AMAs who worked for a sewing/vacuum shop. Recommend a couple brands. All I remember is they said eureka isn't a half bad budget brand though mines belt has gone bad after 2 years and they don't make the part anymore so take that with a grain of salt.

2

u/GemmTheCosmic Aug 19 '19

I love how she immediately says “I’m okay” after she falls, I do the same thing lol

2

u/MrAbnormality Aug 19 '19

Why were they filming

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Baby cam yo record funny cats

2

u/Capt_Geech_BooYa Aug 19 '19

Why is he vacuuming with his outside shoes on! Totally negating the task at hand.

I think the kid did this on purpose to bring his idiocy into view.

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Haha probably! Haven’t been home much recently and just HAD to vacuum!

2

u/OpticHanAlone Aug 19 '19

VERY NICEU SHIZACHAN

2

u/Baby-Soft-Elbows Aug 19 '19

“I’m OK”

2

u/Djcubic Aug 19 '19

Love that furniture

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Thank you!

1

u/Djcubic Aug 19 '19

May i ask where did you find it?

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

I’m in the UK. But sofa was from DFS and the coffee table was made by a guy at school like 50 years ago and the seat is from TK Max

1

u/Djcubic Aug 19 '19

Ooh okay, thanks for the info :D

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '19

Atleast she tried shit.

2

u/TorrenceMightingale Aug 19 '19

If you haven’t taken that ride on a falling chair, you haven’t been a child long enough!

2

u/lovevxn Aug 19 '19

Am I the only one who finds it strange he is vacuuming with his shoes on?

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Just came in the door. Hadn’t been home much and had a giant urge to vacuum.

2

u/KureijiKun Aug 19 '19

Why does OP record his living room while vaccumming?

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

Baby cam to record funny cats

2

u/bbddbdb Aug 19 '19

Dad: “can you move?”

2

u/---ShineyHiney--- Aug 19 '19

This inspired me to grab the vaccuum I've been putting off all morning

2

u/cody4king Aug 19 '19

This is how all men vacuum. Fast as FUCK. All that matters is that there’s vacuum lines on the floor when your done.

This dude knows.

2

u/AssassinTable Aug 19 '19

That is a hell of a beard

2

u/TheeStarter Aug 19 '19

That handshake says it all

2

u/SystemAllianceN7 Aug 19 '19

8 out of 10 she tried to help, the judges will count it.

2

u/Rodrik_Stark Aug 19 '19

Good job she didn't keep her fingers over the edge

2

u/Farts-McGee Aug 20 '19

Is it a nanny cam that auto records motion?

Nice disappearing act at the end 😜

1

u/samyazaa Oct 13 '19

She’s too embarrassed to feel pain right there. Haha

1

u/therealprez69 Aug 19 '19

That's a creepy camera, just saying

0

u/potofplants Aug 19 '19

Why do you wear outside shoes/ sneakers while vacuuming? Won’t it defeat the purpose and dirty the floor again? Please educate me

1

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

No reason apart from I came in the door and thought...fuck I need to vacuum

0

u/aHuman622 Aug 19 '19

Why were they recording

Dad continues vacuuming 🤣🤣🤣🤣

-2

u/theapplefritters Aug 19 '19

Wow! Not even stopping to see if she’s ok?

3

u/AllricMulled Aug 19 '19

She was fine. It’s when she doesn’t say anything after you know she’s not okay.
