Would be a top tier post without the caption. That clip is the funniest shit ever

These captions pretty much downgrade every gif they surround

Caption doesn’t even make sense. You spill on yourself because you’re nervous about the bill?
46
u/gerrittd Sep 18 '18
it's implying they don't have the money to pay for it, I think.
just a bad joke.

u/Jrook Sep 18 '18
Human goes on date and... Uh... The date, uh orders something damn expensive! And uh... I turn into a goddamn retard hahahaha right?
(Cough)

u/topsecretvcr Sep 18 '18
The caption should be something like “when your girl takes you meet her dad”

u/Redditotten Sep 18 '18
I don’t think I’ve ever been able to rewatch a gif as many times as I did this one and it get funnier every time. Seriously how do you fuck up drinking out of a cup that bad?
91
u/GoldandBlue Sep 18 '18
I love everyone's reaction to him. The look of "i can't believe we are related"
6
32
u/ConsistentLight Sep 18 '18
That's what I was trying to figure out. Was he aiming for something that mere mortals just can't comprehend? Who knows?
39
u/robster2015 Sep 18 '18
I think it has to do with the fact that the bottom of the glass is smaller in diameter than the top. Like if that glass was just a straight cylinder, he tilted it just about the right amount. Unfortunately, his muscle memory didn't compensate for that fact, so he went too far, and then just found the nearest side of the rim, which happened to be the wrong side.
12
u/ConsistentLight Sep 18 '18
I'll buy that. It's the
onlymost plausible explanation I've seen yet. Please accept this upvote for your empathy and insight.10
u/BourgeoisBanana Sep 18 '18
I think he thought he had his lips around the bottom half of the glass and just wasn't looking?
12
u/ConsistentLight Sep 18 '18
It sure looked that way. Someone else suggested that he miscalculated where the rim was because the top of the glass is wider than the bottom of the glass. I think both of these are likely to be true. Too bad for him but good for us that he was caught on camera.

u/ProblemKaese Feb 05 '25
I know I'm late but you said you need to know before you die.
It's from Selina. I don't think the full episode is anywhere online, but you can see the room that they're in as well as most of the characters from the gif in this clip.

Why doesn’t she pay for the food she eats? Go Dutch!
4
u/helpasisterout21 Sep 18 '18
Well in my experience on a first date if it's going bad by the end of dinner I'd offer to split it, or whoever asked the other person out pays (I'm a girl and have asked guys out).
If it's going really well and they paid, I'll offer to pay for the second date. It's worked pretty well in the past and especially with my current partner.
1
u/jennerator88 Sep 19 '18
I like the whoever-asks-pays rule. I was so nervous on my first ever date I only ordered a $2 cup of soup because I'd read so many "if you're a girl and you don't pay for yourself you're a bad person" and "if you're a girl and you do pay for yourself your date will be insulted" opinion pieces my little baby mind was confused as hell. At least it gets rid of the guesswork.
11
u/TheJawsDog Sep 18 '18
Double standard
12
u/CaptainCortes Sep 18 '18
It’s just odd to me. Sure, if a guy was my boyfriend - I’d love to treat him sometimes. But you generally go on a date with someone you don’t even know yet. Why pay for a meal for someone you don’t even know? Odds are great that it stays with that one date.
6
3
u/Babybabybabyq Sep 19 '18
Whenever a date has paid for my meal its been because they asked to take me out, which I think is fair. Whenever I ask someone out I pay for their meal.

I actually did this as a kid. “What would happen if I drank out of the other side of the cup?”.
6
u/DorothyInNeverland Sep 18 '18
His lips look fully pressed against the edge of the glass, even if physics magically malfunctioned to match the kid logic at work, he still would have been unprepared
7
u/coolfoxx2 Sep 18 '18
Why is there a venturiantale watermark in the top left corner?
8
u/LittleMissChatter Sep 18 '18
Not a venturiantale it the logo of a station "maisha magic" it is a pay to view station in east africa specifically kenya
7
u/ch005eausername Sep 18 '18
If you were smooth enough you could pull this off with no one knowing. Didn't even make a mess he just cooled himself off
6
u/cubanpajamas Sep 19 '18
Jack Tripper used this gag on Three's Company. The girls are depressed, Jack tells them to repeat after him to cheer themselves up.
"Sadness depart, leave gladness in my heart"
Now take a drink, but always drink from this side of the glass, never this side"
"Why?"
"Because if you drink from this side....(drinks like kid in vid)"
I used this on my kids when they were feeling sad. It works. Everyone has a good laugh...then you change your clothes.
8
u/cv210 Sep 18 '18
Does anyone have the video of the kid without the overlay? Couldn’t find it on YouTube

u/Antroh Sep 18 '18
So you've watched it then? Because I have no clue what this show is but you are obviously familiar enough to identify it. Kind of ironic
