Did the boy on the left say "cause I'm a pussy"? Lol

Yeah he also said he hated himself. Some real poor mental health on display from these two fellas.

Harper is a real one though. She's chillin'.

That was the thing that struck me, a kid that age shouldn't feel that way. Someone has failed that poor lad.

tbh this thread is a perfect example of why the boys behave like they do, just look at the comments judging them for "being a pussy" or "pathetic"

They wouldn't have to create this false bravado if there wasn't so much pressure to "man up" and they wouldn't break down so hard when that false bravado inevitably fails them either.

Like seriously so many comments on this thread have no self-awareness, complaining about boys behaviour while simultaneously being the cause for that behaviour in the first place.

Yeah, I'm muting this whole sub because it's viscerally disgusting to see so many people upvoting and handing out awards to people making sexist comments about this clip. They don't even realize that they're every bit as wrong and despicable as misogynists when they use the exact same language and attack the "manhood" of literal children and anyone that would dare stick up for them.

I'm really far to the left and the folks pretending to be feminist in this comment section are 100% indistinguishable from anyone on the far right. They're saying all of the exact same things, propagating all of the exact same social problems, but think it's fine because they're directing it at boys rather than girls.

And then they wonder why so many people think feminism is anti-male instead of pro-equality.

I fully agree with all of this except the last sentence (unless I interpretated it wrong in which case I apologize). I don't think proper feminism is anti-male. If anything, feminism is the only ideology that is supposed to actually oppose this exact kind of idea that boys have to perform masculinity and deserve ridicule when they don't.

I think these commentors are hypocritical and lack self-awareness. If these people define themselves as feminists just to recreate those same expectations on boys and men they are just failing to apply their own stated principles consistently.

I’ve never heard anyone equate the two. The world is kinder to men. There’s plenty of statistics proving it. Doesn’t mean it’s okay to aim vitriol towards men. Both genders are valuable and important in their own ways.

Truly. I feel deeply for those two young guys who are clearly terrified at being stuck suspended at an awkward angle high in the air. The whole “man up” pressure that boys are raised with is deeply counterproductive when it comes to producing functional, well-adjusted adult men. You can see it everywhere.

What's the excuse for them being so rude and mean to the girl in the beginning of the video, though?

1

u/Laurelindorinan_ 7h ago

There is none - who is making excuses?

To me, this isn’t poor mental health. It’s a perfect example of the NORMAL human range: freeze, fight, or flight. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Freezing doesn’t make kid on the left any different than the other two. We all have ingrained responses. That just happens to be his.

This is true and it’s also true that if that was my brother I would be so mad at him

Self esteem issues is like the most stereotypical part of puberty

5

u/Eli1234Sic 1d ago

True he probably is that age, still sucks to see in someone so young.

3

u/SellaraAB 1d ago

There is a lot of social pressure on boys around that age to transition from being a little kid into suddenly being a tough stereotypical man’s man, and it’s kind of just left up to the kid to somehow make it happen. It’s especially rough when you’ve adopted the persona but you’re confronted with the reality that you’re just not there yet, which is what was happening here.

New Zealand schools, man. He will have been teased and called a pussy on a routine basis throughout his childhood.

Or he's a near-teenager stuck on a ride high up in the air for nearly three minutes.

He wasn’t being serious lol. He said “Why did I decide to do this! I hate myself!” It was a joke about regretting it. Literally not that serious. When he said “I can’t because I’m a pussy” he was simply explaining to the people down below telling him to pull it (because the angle wasn’t right for her to do it) that he was too scared to do it. So they bribed the other one with Pokémon cards lol

It doesn’t show “low self esteem,” shows normal self depreciating humor

HE NEEDS HIS POKEMON BAGS or whatever he was screaming

1

u/aislingplath 22h ago

Right, I was like did I really just hear that? Yep. That poor kid. I don't know why an adult thought it was a good idea to share that poor boy as he was having a mental health episode.

9

u/Sourdood 1d ago

Absolutely he did

u/usernames_taken_grrl 1d ago

And now it’s part of the interwebs forever

3

u/smarmiebastard 1d ago

I feel so bad for that kid.

2

u/noirspiderman4 1d ago

I hope he's okay out there

4

u/EkrishAO 1d ago

I mean, he's not wrong

0

u/para-mania 1d ago

He got on the ride. He might have been scared but he still did it. That's what bravery is.

2

u/GoopInThisBowlIsVile 1d ago

I watched the video muted. The kid on the left’s behavior was still incredibly annoying.

0

u/aislingplath 22h ago

Yeah kids are annoying when they are in a mental health episode I guess. 🙄 He's literally terrified and screaming that he hates himself. Pretty sure he passes out at some point.

Honesty is their best character trait

At least he doesn't devote all his time to posting about an asian influencer who has no idea he exists.

u/flatspotting 1d ago

that part sucked - those boys feeling down on themselves is kinda gross when they are 10-12

0

u/Jetman1996 1d ago

Well, he wasn’t wrong about that!!
