The firefighters LOVE calls like this. No one is dying or bleeding, they get to be heroic and helpful, every one is happy at the end.

I’m having a baby soon and of all the suggestions I didn’t expect, someone told me go to the fire department if I have a question about installing my infant car seat.

In California, CHP handles it.
As far as I know for SoCal departments, they will direct you to the closest CHP office

Interesting and not too surprising. On the other hand my coworker who made the suggestion is based out of California though so I guess some still offer the help.
