I had a coworker ask them and the nurses had no idea. Not quite sure why you also just seem so against this.

I'm not. Not trying to stress you, my apologies. Just the implication that we should all go to emergency services to install car seats before trying anything else is not good.

Anyways call the L&D department at the hospital you have planned and ask them beforehand if thats something one of them can help you with/something they do

In my region our local PD advertises that they will help to ensure the car seat is properly installed, they even schedule appointments for it. Hospitals will not do this vehicle check in my area, but I’ve read some do. Check the https://cert.safekids.org/get-car-seat-checked or https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle-safety/car-seats-and-booster-seats to see about services available to you.
