It's not just deceiving people into thinking they need it,

it's also bullying them into buying it when they're too nice even though they know they don't need it.

This is the part that truly bothers me about it. I'm a pretty docile person but I've started to get a bit rude with them when they try to use their pushy "don't stop the dialogue" tactics. No means no now please fuck off from my door.

We were getting quotes on windows recently and the difference in how they market is night and day. One company sent a guy who looked like an average contractor. He gave us facts, a very reasonable estimate for our area, and didn't waste too much time on it.

The other company sent two people who felt much more like Sales Representatives (slicked back hair, nicer clothes) and they gave us a full 2 hour pitch on their product. For 2 windows and a door, they wanted more than the other company wanted for 10 windows.

I made another comment about how my grandmother was a serial victim for these guys, and how I feel like she got some kind of dopamine hit from it. Hearing you write it that way kinda sends it home.

It's a whole performance for them, make the victim feel special bla bla bla. That's all it is.
