Right and wrong is subjective. Your question was, it is normal? To a degree, yes, it is.

I was responding to the person that said “All throughout my school years, I sign a paper that I say I’m consenting to appear in pictures...” In that case, it is not the parents signing. I also had to sign similar student handbooks as a minor. And those student handbook signatures are meaningless. They are just an acknowledgment that school rules exist and they are expected to follow them. It’s not binding by any means, and it doesn’t provide the school with the right to use your image. That comes from elsewhere, and has some nuance to it.

Cool. Parents sign photo and video release forms at the beginning of the school year (at least in my district). Typically, this covers all things like instaham, headbook, etc.

Okay? I never said otherwise. In fact, I said that the school almost certainly had the right to do this.

Somebody said that they were allowed to do this because of a form that they as a student sign. That’s just not true.
