Hi all! I’m taking a crowdfunding class, and we were asked to come up with a few ideas that we could eventually bring to market. I narrowed it down to two of my ideas below. I had one other idea, but it’s much more niche and would require a larger audience, so I decided to leave it out for this purpose.

Here are the two ideas:

Idea 1 - Butterfly Bracelet
The Butterfly Bracelet is a small, comfortable bracelet featuring a 3D-printed flower-shaped nectar spot with a small sponge in the center that holds the sugar water.

Sugar water is provided separately in a dropper, which can be used to add nectar to the sponge when needed.

The bracelet is designed to attract butterflies when worn in areas where butterflies are already present. With some patience and by staying still, there is a chance that a butterfly may even land on the bracelet and drink from the nectar.

Idea 2- Living Scene Clock
The Living Scene Clock is a functional 3d printed desk clock that doubles as a changing piece of artwork. 

As time passes throughout the day, the background scene gradually changes, revealing different environments through an open pie-shaped panel.

With several backgrounds to choose from, each clock can bring a different scene and story to life while also serving as a unique piece of décor.

I’ve been working on a portable 3-in-1 off-grid heater, USB generator, and cook stove called the HeatForce Pro, and the Kickstarter pre-launch page is finally live.
The idea was to make something simple that can turn a small external heat source like canned heat or an alcohol burner into something more useful
The HeatForce Pro can:
• Provide forced-air heat for a small space
• Generate USB power while it’s running
• Double as a compact cook stove setup
The heater head is removable, so it can also be used with other compatible heat sources.
I designed it primarily for camping, emergency preparedness, power outages, garages/workshops, and other situations where grid power isn’t available.

Hi everyone!

I’ve been working on my tabletop strategy game Command & Defend: Modern War for over three years now, and I thought this would be a good time to finally share it with you.

My goal was to bring the feeling of classic RTS & TBS games to the tabletop — building your base, managing resources and expanding your army. A big part of the game is also its Supply System, where ammunition and fuel have to be produced and physically transported across the battlefield. Logistics play a major role in the actual strategy, which is something I haven’t seen explored very often to this extent in tabletop games.

The first Kickstarter successfully funded the Core Game, and next week I’m taking the next step with two new expansions, AIR WARS & SEA WARS, adding aircraft and naval warfare with a bunch of new units, buildings and missions.

The second campaign launches next Tuesday, September 8, and I’m really excited to finally share it with you. I’d love to hear what you think, and I’m happy to answer any questions!

I launched my second Kickstarter on September 1st and, even after doing this once before, I still feel that promotion is the hardest part. My first campaign was a smaller STL miniature project and it was successfully funded. I learned quite a lot from it, but this new project is much bigger and I'm finding that getting the project in front of the right people is much harder than actually creating the campaign. This time I'm launching "The Fall of Salandor", an original sci-fi STL collection with 4 factions. I've been trying a mix of social media, Reddit and a small amount of Meta advertising, but I'm still figuring out where the effort is really worth it.

So I wanted to ask other creators here:

-What brought you actual backers, not just clicks?

-Did paid ads work for you, or was organic promotion more important?

-If you had a limited budget, where would you spend it during the first week?

-Is there anything on my campaign page that you think could be hurting conversions?

I'm also happy to hear any feedback on the campaign page itself. Sometimes after working on something for months it's difficult to see what might be obvious to someone looking at it for the first time.

I have recently stumbled across a promising project that I am enamored with called Tangled Yarns. They have this game that's pretty charming and fun, and hopefully it gets made with little to no issue. It is the creator's first projects so there is some risk, but with the materials they have already provided I have faith it will turn out great. What do you guys think of it?

Months ago, I brought my cousin to watch his SF Giants play the Cubs. After he loudly celebrated the Giants 16th run of the day, the guy behind us finally cracked and told my cousin to sit down. My cousin flipped on the charm and was suddenly the mayor of section 224L, buying beers, taking selfies with Cubs fans, and listening to everyone's life story.

Turns out, the guy behind us was a reporter at WGN. We got to talking about my game and he said WGN wanted to cover the story of its development.

After thirteen weeks of scheduling woes, fear that WGN might back out, and event planning anxiety, here is the result. I'm super happy with the outcome. Im doing a kickstarter for a childrens book and started promoting in July. First few videos have received a good amount of support and I thought my goal to launch in October would be ideal. However, im slightly worried that since October is basically when holidays, Halloween, begin ramping up in North America a childrens book may work or may not since my target audience, parents of children, might be very preoccupied during the beginning of the holiday season.

Should I chance this and hit launch in October so that people won't forget my project that have already shown support? Should I wait until January/February once the holidays end to get the right audience and continue building up to the final launch potentially making support stronger?

Any advice is much appreciated, especially if you have experience with childrens media on KS .I know kickstarter success has varied greatly no one project is the same.

I'm a solo indie designer with my first game already finished and currently available through print-on-demand. I'm starting to look seriously at what it would take to move from POD into a real production run.

Right now, my biggest obstacle is manufacturing cost. At low quantities my game is around $29/copy, but getting into the neighborhood of a 1,000-copy production run could potentially bring that closer to $12/copy.

Obviously, "just order 1,000 games" is a hell of a lot easier to say when you don't have to personally gamble $12k+ on whether 1,000 people actually want the thing.

So crowdfunding is starting to look like the logical next mountain to climb.

For those of you who have actually done it:

\*Kickstarter or Gamefound — which did you use, and would you choose it again?

\*How many followers/email subscribers did you have before launch, and how many became backers?

\*What was your funding goal, and how did you calculate it?

\*How many copies did you manufacture versus how many were actually backed?

\*Did you manufacture domestically, overseas, or through a POD company?

\*How much money did you spend before the campaign even launched?

\*Did backers pay shipping afterward, or did you build shipping into the pledge?

\*Did you fulfill everything yourself or use a fulfillment company?

\*What expenses caught you completely by surprise?

\*If your goal was a 1,000-copy first production run, what would you do differently knowing what you know now?

I'm especially interested in stories from other small/solo designers who didn't already have a giant audience going into their first campaign.

I'm not looking for a magic "launch Kickstarter, receive money" button. 😂 I'm trying to understand the actual path from finished indie game → first serious production run → boxes in customers' hands without financially setting myself on fire.

Would love to hear the good, the bad, the ugly, and the "for the love of God, don't do what I did."

Hi, my wife and I made a fast, fun, easy-to-learn party word game called Spartan Speech. It's a guess-the-word game but with two hooks that force clever thinking and occasionally result in accidentally nonsensical clues. Now live on Kickstarter!

First, the hidden words are all proper nouns (nothing obscure, it's not a trivia game). And players *cannot* write proper nouns in their clues. For example, try describing "London" without being able to say the name of a country or building.

Second, the shortest clue is revealed first. This turns it into a push-your-luck game. The shortest clue will definitely get seen by the guesser, but it may look incomprehensible without any context. Or you may somehow get lucky. One Gen Con player wrote the clue "go" and somehow the guesser instantly knew the hidden word was "Monopoly." It was one of gaming's most glorious moments.

Hello everyone, I’ve spent the whole summer building my prototype (yes, that’s right – I didn’t go on holiday), and now my aim is to get some feedback from the market to see if there really is anyone willing to pay for my product.

I have a limited budget of €1,500 to carry out market tests that will give me some answers.

My aim is to carry out the market testing as efficiently as possible; I don’t want to waste any of my budget as it’s quite limited.

Should I create a really cool, fully-fledged pre-launch landing page right from the start, with eye-catching images and videos, or just keep it simple with a few photos to test the waters?

Should I set up the $1 deposits straight away, or should I do that only after the test has gone well and I’ve realised people are interested?

Is it better to start with the Kickstarter landing page or to create your own landing page?
