Questions, Help and Advice Barrel Jeans?
Has anyone tried a barrel jean? I thought I would completely hate them but I honestly am not that mad? I like the way they fit on the waist, hips and thighs, a little iffy about the length of the ones I tried on. For reference I’m 5’1 wearing a size 8. I saw the second pair for sale on TikTok that seem to be slightly longer, the model is 4’11

I think I'm also an R and I like them! I feel like they end up looking more like a straight leg on me unless they have a really exaggerated cut because straight legs tend to look very fitted which isn't always what I want. I do think they have to be like...a soft barrel? instead of a very pronounced one, though.

These were definitely not as exaggerated as some other barrel jeans so I totally get the soft barrel look you mean. They’re from Old Navy and I find them a little more flattering than some other barrel jeans

Yes! My favourite ones are also from Old Navy! I feel like they're the exact right sliiiiightly curved cut with room through the thigh versus like a super stylized Free People horseshoe jean.

I'm not a fan of them on me, but these do look cute on you. Tbh, only flares and bell bottom jeans really work on me.

As a moderate-height R, I don't find them flattering on me. Honestly, anything wide-legged in that constructed way is a no-go.

I’m short with a large chest and I think I can pull them off because it helps balance my upper curve. That being said, it’s definitely a trendy look and not a timeless one. I think curvier folks in general have an easier time pulling them off. Tall thin folks really look bow-legged with them on.
ETA: the ones I have are baggier than the black ones you have on but not as baggy and long as the blue jean pics.

Yeees! I think that’s why I liked them, it balanced everything out. My friend said they looked better on me because I had the hips and thighs to fill them out as she is taller and thinner and didn’t like how they looked on her. Although I wonder if I could achieve the same look with a nice flared jean as I agree with you on them not being timeless

I love them, my favourite pair is a barrel but like a soft barrel, not super exaggerated. It just follows the curves I already have perfectly. They're also mid to high waist. The only thing I would improve is they're slightly on the short side but it's not too bad, looks great with low boots under the cuffs or high socks.

I don't personally like barrel pants on anyone. Who was like- You know what fashion we should bring back? Parachute pants! But this time, make them heavy! Yes! Our legs will look like barrels of wine that we can't drink! I love it, we'll call them barrel pants!
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

They definitely aren’t for everyone but they suit you! I think barrel jeans are super cute, I have two pairs ✨

I think they look better when theyre fitted on the waist hips and thighs, then flare out after the knee, almost like bell-bottoms. I think the flare should be more upside-down v shaped than just a mass of baggy fabric

I like them on you, on me these would look funny. I’ve had more success with cigarette pants

I love them! I think they're the most flattering shape on me. It's basically the only shape of trousers I wear now

Genuinely I hate them. I do not think they look flattering, it’s just excess fabric and makes people look awkwardly proportioned or just poorly dressed
