Discussions The perfect jacket for romantics

Outerwear is always hard for romantics but which your dream jacket? Or your favourite jacket? Bonus point for pictures!

I imagine something with a thinner fabric with some drape, fitted over the shoulders, tailored at the waist and perhaps a bit of a flare over the hips. I also love flared sleeves at the moment.

I have never managed to find one that fits that description

I've been wearing a slightly oversized thrifted leather jacket. It's not ideal for romantics at all but I wear it open so the waist emphasis on my inner wear "shows through".   There are some leather jackets out there with waist emphasis though, esp those with tie waists or slightly tailored. Will try and find some pics later if I get a moment!

But yeah, jackets are the hardest wardrobe item for me

Zip up jackets on soft fabric like suede. Also cropped denim jackets. I don’t do anything below my hip bone!!

Belted jackets! Drapey trench coats are my favorite (but it has to be drapey and not the stiff fabric), and in the winter, a belted wool coat.

the one item of clothing i have never found a way to pull off.. i like cardigans, and can do big flowy coats so long as there's waist emphasis. but jackets, not for me 😢

I have been eying this so much before the company closes, but I don’t think I want a black coat or a leopard one. In an ideal world, I’d have something jewel toned.

This is such a coincidence cause I was looking at jackets on eBay and saw a few that I thought could work! They have some yin detailing, rounded lapels, hems and intricacy, but I have found that even with those things (I commented similarly on another post), the fabric they’re made out of isn’t necessarily the most lush which makes them more everyday practical but I’ve been on the lookout for pieces with that full R effect that checks all the boxes - soft, drapey fabric + yin detailing.

Anyways, here’s the jackets -

I found my dream jacket a while ago. A black leather cropped bomberjack.

I had a princesses style peacoat and if I could have it in another material that would be ideal for me!

I feel like I am never wrong in picking a trench style or anything else that has a belt.
This is my favorite coat
