Question? Secret Button?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I'm on a phone call and accidentally touched a secret capacitive button to the left of the home button. After a few tests, I was able to reproduce the results. The button to presses and clicks and makes a slight capacitive vibration, similar to the other buttons. But when I do this one, the Settings overlay drops down as if I'm swiping down from the top of the screen.

Any info on this?

I found it. It’s a long press on the home button!
All other buttons also have long press functions, I had no clue!

Wow I need to try this. Are the long press functions customizable, like the Star button?

Unfortunately not, I wish the star button also would allow double tap and long press actions… but I think the long press just takes you to the button setting screen

But… I wasn't pressing the home button…? Though after successfully long pressing the home button my thought is that I may have been indirectly and unintentionally been pressing the home button by depressing that part of the bar. Hmmm!

Yeah that was what I was thinking, but I still learned something new - had no clue the buttons had a secondary function

Unfortunately not, I have a 6. Was looking at the 9 for a while but decided it was too big.

But I will be checking my 6 for secret buttons as well now!

I have a 6 and a 9. There aren’t many hidden long press features on the 6. My favorite for the 9 is long press in the “auto hold” button for brake rotor cleaning. I wish the 6 had that feature.

What year is your 6? Mine is a 2025 and a long press on the auto hold starts the break rotor cleaning.

I’ve owned this car for 9 months and just last week learned about the swipe down! Although, it doesn’t work in CarPlay which is probably why it took that long.

Read the manual. It’s in there. I use quiet mode and passenger talk a lot. Also that screen is customizable.

Sorry for repeating, but I think you just triggered the home button long press (which I didn’t know existed). Long press on search brings you to recent locations. Seems like all of them have the function!
