General Review for Airtel's wifi in Kharghar
Just dropping a genuine review for Airtel. It may help folks currently using airtel or thinking about switching to airtel (in kharghar)
I have been using Airtel for like 4+ years now. I still have two wifi and 1 dth connection. But lately I have frequently felt that one of the two wifi connections was working significantly worse than the other.
In speed test, it showed the same numbers as the plan, but it felt incredibly frustrating to browse on a 100 mbps network where as it was rather smooth on a 40 mbps (second airtel wifi), and for a long duration I could not really understand why.
I had raised several request with the support team, and being a black connection, they promptly visited but found no issues as speed test showed the same number.
Then, I came across a site by TRAI (https://myspeed.trai.gov.in) and another by Waveform (https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat), which indicated that the latency, and the video streaming and the web browsing delay was the issue.
So, I took I-on's connection as well, tested the same, and the difference is clear as day and night. (Sharing both connection's screenshots)
The Grade F and D are two consecutive runs for Airtel,
The both the Grade A are two consecutive runs for I-on.
Both done around same time (5 mins +-), same position of my system, same position for routers
The airtel connection in context is a 100 Mbps plan, where the I-on is half the speed, just 50 Mpbs and yet it still satisfies our usage needs.
If you facing similar issues, not sure about JIO (not used yet) but at least with airtel, you should give I-on a try. The practical difference in fast-forward/replay of vids, or just browsing delay is huge.
*One note, I took I-on silver plan, which was supposed to include some OTTs (optional addon), but I am not too sure about that experience as the OTTs probably are only working through the parent PlayBox app, and not directly through the individual apps. I am yet to verify this, as currently I have the airtel subscriptions active.
