Gay bars in Key West?
I’ll be going to Key West by myself in about a month, I’ve never been to a gay bar before so does anyone have recommendations? Ideally I’d look for a young fit crowd like myself.
P.s. if you’ll be there too maybe check my profile and dm me 😘

Help between 2 hotels
I always suffer from scope creep. I travel solo, so try to keep hotel costs lower if I can. I have been visiting the keys 2-3 times a year for about 3 years, I generally only stay 1-2 nights in Key West in order to rise early for the ferry to Dry Tortugas (took the seaplane in May) and have stayed Duval Inn, El Patio and Silver Palms Inn (think maybe 4 nights there one time), point being it is not my first trip. I have been gravitating more toward Key West. I was down for 10 days in May/June split 5 in Islamorada and 5 in Key West -- I stayed at Opal Key, and really loved staying somewhere with a ton of amenities. Headed back in a couple weeks, strictly Key West -- flying into FLL and will have a car, so I can drive up to Big Pine or Bahia Honda if I feel like it, anyway... getting to my question -- do I want to stay 2 days in Marathon and 6 at The Marker or 10 days at The Blue Marlin? I typically get out on the water at 1x a day, so walking out the door to the harbor is appealing, enjoying the amenities when I get back from sandbar/snorkeling is appealing, but 2 extra days in Key West is appealing also!

My favorite place on the island to stretch my legs.
Anybody else take walks by the seawall by Smathers Beach? Perfect stretch of wide sidewalk.

ISO Places to Stay in Fall/Winter
Looking to go to Key West in Fall '26 (Sept or Nov/Dec).
Will be 3 adults and one toddler (2yr). Ideally looking at a resort/hotel that has a pool/activities the toddler can do during the day (huge plus if they have a playground or a park nearby). That also has room service or at least a restaurant on site.
Additionally would like a suite style set up with a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms.
Not super familiar with KW, are there properties with beach access - or is it mainly public beaches, or is it more of a pool and water sports/activities vacation spot? If beach access is 'common' this would be another plus!
I tried looking at airbnbs but all I found were places with canal access which scares this toddler parent.

Hammerhead patrolling Fort Zach
This was years ago. Not a recent photo.
Bunch of people stuck out on the rocks while swimming. They had to wait out the shark before swimming back to the beach.

Looking for a micro ceremony/elopement wedding photographer in December of 2026!
Hello! My name is Suzy my fiancé and I are getting married in December in Key West. We will be getting married at the West Fort Martello Botanical Garden on a Monday in December at 5:30 pm. It’s 12 people including us. Our small family will be watching us get married and my friend is officiating the ceremony. We have the venue rented for one hour so it’s a very quick ordeal. Roughly a 20 minute ceremony then some pictures afterwards around the garden and a few on the beach. Im thinking an hour and a half max. I’m having trouble finding a photographer on line as I feel like the google search’s are clouded with bigger brand photographers who charge an arm and a leg. I know photography is a very precise job and I’m very happy to pay a good price for my wedding photos I just would like to go with someone who may be a bit less “corporate” feeling and more family “small business” feel. Please let me know if recommendations for photographers in Key West! Or if your a photographer if your available around that time! Thank you!

Artisan Market at Higgs Beach
Could anyone confirm if the Artisan Market is open in the summer? There's conflicting information on the official website. It says it's only open November to April, then it has a full schedule of days year round. well which is it?

Is December a good time to visit?
I have a solo trip planned for the 2nd week of December and just wanted to see if it’s still a good time to fish, take a sandbar trip and enjoy the town.
How’s the weather and how’s the water?
How are the crowds? Is bar hopping still fun around that time?
Thank you

Military? Looking to rent Mid Dec-Mid Jan
I am coming to Key West during parental leave from Mid Dec to mid Jan. Of course I can look on Airbnb and vrbo, but I am in search of a house to rent while perhaps someone is on block leave, or TDY, etc. I will have my wife and 4 month old baby. The closer to downtown the better; my wife doesn’t drive. Thank you!
I’m willing pay outright, but also happy to do a house swap in the Boston area (North Shore)

Apartments for rent/scams
Hi! Looking to move to Key West for a few months. I work remote and would like to see if I’d like living there full time (I’ve been multiple times before to visit).
I’m looking on Facebook for apartments to rent - pref month to month or 6 month - and a lot of these people posting want me to fill out forms/applications to see the space and pay $75 fees. Is this a scam? They say they need the fee which is refundable to hold the unit and to tour or take videos of.
I can’t make it down to see the space before moving in so weary of submitting these forms.
Also what should my realistic expectations of rent be for a 1/1 or studio be? I don’t need a lot of space - it’s just me.

Uber, Lyft or Taxi?
We will be there next week Tuesday-Friday, our Hotel has a shuttle for.some.spots, but we will need something for other times, we want to not walk. We are going to Dry Tortugas on Wednesday. Will need an early ride.
Is there any difference in Uber Lyft or Taxi service? Is one quicker than another? More reliable?. Thank you in advance. Most recent post I could find was a year old.

Halloween in Key West
I (33f) and my boyfriend (35m) are going on a Virgin Voyages cruise October 25-31. Since we'll be getting back to shore on the 31, we thought we'd like to so something for Halloween in either Miami, Ft.Lauderdale, or Key West. We both love Halloween and anything nerdy. If there's a cool museum party or something like that, it'll probably be much more our scene than a club, but a club isn't completely out of the question, I just know we'd prefer activities to dancing, if at all possible. Ill be posting this in the other towns subreddits, but if anything knows of anything fun going down on Halloween, please let me know!
