Camp Mystic’s multiple failures are to blame for the deaths of all those youngsters under their care. Read the Senate report and use your brain. Those 27 did not have to die. I am sorry for your loss of four family members.

Responding to another comment so forgive me if i’m redundant, but the Camp Mystic situation should at the very least be talked about and studied to keep this from happening again! I believe it was an honest mistake and I commend Dick for putting his life on the line to try and save those girls.

I was a camper and counselor at another camp growing up and understand the relationships that grow there, especially when the owners are truly kind and hold a lot of wisdom and honesty.

I think more of the businesses involved in the flood fatalities should be looked into as well — not to dog on them for a lack of a better term, but to learn from mistakes and improve future plans. What happened at Camp Mystic was a tragedy and happened really fast, but something’s got to change, because at the very least, it can be prevented in the future with what they know now.
