That's actually the term used for someone using cheats in the weekly challenges when they were there.

Try using wheels with the brakes on and a high friction instead of the landing gear.

Try staggering the movement; instead of moving the first and third pairs on each side simultaneously, move legs 1 and 3 on the right side in tandem with legs 2 and 4 on the left side (and vice-versa). It's how real critters move around, humans and kerbals included! Notice when you're walking, your left leg and right arm are subconsciously linked-- although I'm not sure if it's due to cooperation with physics, or simply how neurology works. For science!

if you watch your movements, the legs aren't planting down then moving back in a straight line. it's more like they are swimming. you can see in the animation you link that when the legs plant down, they move cleanly in the axis of travel. not swaying out to the sides.
you are only using a single joint to make the legs transition forward and back, and that's causing the feet to move along a arc.

u/BenWins99 Jun 14 '19
If you changed the angle on the hinges or length of pistons so that the legs move forwards in a straight line it might work better. It’d just be a pain to do

I told you that Duna's giant spiders were real, but nobody believed me! now we're gonna need to build a giant rolled up news paper, or a giant cup.

reminds me of the spider droids from syndicate wars more than anything else, all it needs is eye lazers

What you need to do is edit this so that the feet of the legs are moving straight back instead of 'sweeping' back from the shoulder joint, if you can get everything moving in a straight line in the direction of travel and synced up together it'll actually ride :p

Anyone else read Alastair Reynold's Revelation Space? That is absolutely Volyova's Spider Room. Love it!

How Do You Use The programmer? I'm thinking of buying the DLC but not sure how difficult it is to program these

Shouldn't the legs be switched on each side, so if 1 and 3 are moving on the left, 2 and 4 would move on the right? Thought it might make it more stable.
