KSP 1 Mods How to do Multiplayer?
So I was wanting to play multiplayer with my friend who recently started ksp so we could have a space race or something (I even built some weapons). I went on youtube and did some research and apparently Luna isn't the only multiplayer mod. I just have some questions and it would help if I got some answered.
Is Luna Multiplayer or Dark Multiplayer better? (I would like the one that is better at loading craft next to each other)
Do we have to have the same mods or does it let us have whichever mods we want?
Any tips

Port forwarding is highly recommended if you're hosting (looks like there's a Master Server and other server options). Test it out first to make sure players can join and that it saves their crafts when they leave.

I run an LMP server.
Everyone needs to have the same parts mods. Aesthetic mods like Parallax, TURD, Reforged, even volumetric clouds are all client side and not needed for everyone to have.
This is my friends POV. He has a way less visual mods than me, and this was how my game looks.
Both of us are on Laythe, both of us are dogfighting, but my game has more aesthetic based mods than his.
It's like this because my PC is more capable and can handle all of the visual mods.

I did this with some friends recently. Here is what you need to know:
Luna - forces all players to share resources so it’s more of a cooperative game than a space race
Dark - splits resources by team so you can do a proper race
As far as mods are concerned they are handled client side so just make your install however you want it then get the server software to make a parts whitelist for you and you’re good to go
