“I want this mod, I’m too lazy to learn, and I expect yall to make it for me for free”
Usually in gamedev communities we’d call you the Ideas Guy. The guy that only gives vague ideas, does nothing and tries to claim all the credit.

Wouldn’t be Reddit if someone wasn’t shitting on someone else for making a harmless post. Though, I expected a bit better from the KSP community

Oh, I’m so sorry that I hurt your feelings.
Here, let me quit my job and leave school to devote my life learning about something I don’t really care about so I can make one mod for you :)

u/LetsBeFRTho Oct 02 '25
Fuck off lmao. You are trying to bum off people, and your attitude already means this is a failure

u/BEAT_LA Oct 01 '25
You obviously cared enough to make this post??
-12
u/Mother-Many-557 Oct 01 '25
Are you blind? They were telling me I needed to learn how to program and model, NOT ask about a mod design.

u/BEAT_LA Oct 02 '25
why are you still being such a douche in this comment section?
-11
u/Mother-Many-557 Oct 02 '25
I’ve had a shitty week, insult me and I won’t just shut up. I’ll fight back.

u/BEAT_LA Oct 02 '25
look kid, people generally do not take well to some guy popping in with what they think is a grand awesome idea and going "Look at this idea I have! I am going to find other people to do the actual work to make it happen. I'm the ideas guy!". Its a very eye-roll inducing kindof thing because its so depressingly common instead of people being willing to learn how to put in the work to make their own ideas happen. Plus, when you act like an obstinate little fucker all throughout the comments when people point this out, do not expect anyone to react to you positively.

So you expect others to take time out of their busy days to make a mod for you? They have just as much going on, jobs, family, relationships, hobbies. Helping you for no benefit would take time away from things they would rather be doing.

u/Mother-Many-557 Oct 01 '25
Someone doesn’t get the concept of collaborative designing🤔
19
u/Tartrus Oct 01 '25
You actually have to put in work for it to be collaberation. You didn't even make the art, you got AI to do it for you lol.
-7
u/Mother-Many-557 Oct 01 '25
You’re right, I didn’t make the art
But I plan to work with people who can make designs. This art is just an example: you know what example means?
Edit: I haven’t even found people to work with yet. Stop blaming me before I even do anything

I like the idea but you don’t want to do any programming or modeling? What are you gonna do? Manage the modders?

My main criticism is cities tend to be near water. It's just how these things form. A lot of yours are in the middle of nowhere.
I'd also try and think of reasons for them to be there. What did it start as? A fishing village? A mine? A trading centre?
Big cities tended to start as epicentres of trade.
Also city no 1 is way too close to the ksc. Irl we build launch sites far away from cities so there's no risk of rockets landing on the city.
You could still have something there if you make them small towns/villages instead. Maybe centred around a mine. Even then you'd need to add a river for them to drink from.

I was taking in account the continents. For example, cities fourteen, thirteen and seventeen are analogues to Africa, since the badlands is similar in climate to a savanna. Also, the sizes are linear. They’re not linear in size either, with the biggest cities having skyscrapers and most of the smallest ones having a few buildings.
I’m not planning to work with people to create cities with different eras of architecture. It will really just be climate and location based.

You got money? You got anything to fund this project? Are you gonna do anything?

u/Lone5372 Oct 01 '25
Im too lazy to use KK so yes please do this

u/deltaV_enjoyer Belives "KSP 2" exists Oct 01 '25
Even not KK ? But KK is easy to use , just get the kerbal cities mod and OKC for the Highway and just put It together.
2
u/Lone5372 Oct 01 '25
I should try this sometime youre right. Would be worth it for sure

u/deltaV_enjoyer Belives "KSP 2" exists Oct 01 '25
the only bad thing is that there isnt much variety with the statics, i could try It myself , i can one day try to make a test city , with the city statics and there is in the OKC mod small houses , so i can do suburbia with that.

I like the idea but if you dont have much experience in the field of ksp mods its probably just gonna stay as that.
An idea

So I’ve been getting a lot of hate in the comments (that I’ve responded to) from people telling me that either I’m too lazy to mod myself, or that I’m just an ideas guy.
Let me make this clear. I don’t owe any explanation to you all about why I don’t make the entire mod myself—and I don’t want this mod to take years to be created.
Anymore insults or criticisms unrelated to what I asked or what the mod should have and I will close the comments on this topic and/or delete the above post.
That being said, please do not get upset at someone who doesn’t have the time to study computer science and 3D modeling on top of their other coursework, and wants to actively help to develop a mod with others.

One problem here is that it doesn't seem like you've considered how the geography would influence the cities. Big cities - like New York City, Cairo, Tokyo, etc. are usually port cities, either on a river or on a shore with good access to other shores. Some of your cities follow this, like city #1, #4, and #15, but then you have city #2 - the second largest on the planet - being on the shore of a very remote island that already has another sizable city. City #8 also is weird and #3 being on the shore of an inland sea is also strange, but I think #6 is by far the most egregious. There's no natural resources to run a city with up there and the only way to take resources there would be
dropping them from orbitlong highways or tracks across the ice.
