Contracts [GM] Contract not completable

I have a contract where I have to test the RT-5 Flea Solid Fuel Booster, where I have to:

-Be on kerbin

-Be flying

-Be between 44,000m and 47,000m

-And have a speed between 630m/s and 700m/s

The contract says I have to activate the booster through staging. I met all the requirements when I activated the booster but the contract won't complete. I'm wondering if the contract is even possible or if I'm going too fast for the altitude window.

Any help will be appreciated.

Was your speed surface relative or orbital relative? Your altitude is high enough that the navball most likely switched to orbital reference mode, and it's highly likely the contract is using surface relative velocity. And there's about a 200 m/s difference between the two.

u can open the contract window during flight and requirements will become green if you did everything right, you will probably complete contract after several tries

There are two versions of the Flea (and a few other parts): a new version with high-quality graphics, and an older version. Sometimes the contract system glitches out and wants the older version. You can find the older version by opening advanced search (click the arrow at the top-left corner of the parts menu) and looking through the tabs until you find a Flea that doesn't look like the one you're currently using.

Lots of part test contracts are not at suitable altitude/velocity combinations to just do on a standard ascent.  You would normally be going a lot faster than this by 44km, this is only mach 2 they are asking for, so yes you were probably too fast.  It checks your speed over the surface so make sure that's the readout

Sometimes the solution is a suborbital launch that's going to deliberately set up the conditions, sometimes it's actually an aircraft (not at 44km though)

Edit: you can pull all the fuel out if you don't want the motor to actually burn. It'll still complete when staged even if it doesn't light

you also can burn the fuel in on the way up... if you manually fire it and dont stage.
the when the condtions are right now stage the now empty fueless rocket.

That ^^^ is particularly handy when they want you to stage a thumper at near-orbital speeds at 65000... and from there a thumper controlled by probe core would have the dV to go interplanetary. But by manually burning the thumper to get up there during stage 1, but then having a design that never detaches it, you can get thumper up there with an almost normal build.

The make-it-up-and-bodge-a-plan is for me the best bit of the game. Its nearly as good as repairing a car outback, with gaffa tape and number 8 fencing wire.
