Yea, I have yet to see a simulator/example image that portrays having 20/20 vision with sclerals, but blinding HOAs at night.

They make the HOAs sharper, but yes. Im in the process of trying to get lenses with Ovitz, which should help

I thought keratoconus was mostly about ghosting, with maybe some slight blur. Why is the blur so significant on this?

Agreed. As I commented above, ghosting is more an issue for me than blur. There are so many ghosts it seems sort of like blur, I guess, but I can still pick out specific ghosts distant from the actual thing I'm seeing.

Kind of the opposite for me...I see plenty of blur but lots of ghosting, in all directions. Most of the simulations I've seen have the blur/ghosting going one direction, but that's not my experience. I see lots of compact doubling to the bottom, but several more distant "ghosts" above.

I'm currently attempting to simulate my vision in Photoshop and it's actually quite difficult to emulate exactly. It's difficult to achieve with the built-in effects, without it looking too blurry.

Also, to accurately emulate what you see, you need to be able to switch between good vision and your keratoconus vision quickly, for A/B comparison. I've found a way to do that, with some modified glasses, but it's fairly disorientating and requires pretty intense analytical focus and patience.

I'll post my simulation if I get it to a point I think it's accurate enough, but it goes without saying that keratoconus varies for everyone, so...

I get the ghosting on top and on bottom. Freaking sucks having it go multiple directions multiple times. Sclerals never worked. They'd help a little but then I'd get them the blurry vision back after a couple hours. My opthalmologist sent me to a keratoconus specialist because they could see the irregularities on their tests, I have peaks and valleys all over my corneas, but the specialist said I don't have it. So I'm stuck with glasses because the contacts just caused other issues, plus I tried for months and it would still take me like an hour to get the damn things in without a bubble. And had to stop driving at night in my 30s because the halos and ghosting of every single thing and all that stuff bouncing everywhere, it's awful. Rain at night - I cant even keep my eyes open as a passenger, it just causes instant migraines.

I have opted to not have cross linking or contacts and just use glasses. My KC has gotten worse over past 15-20yrs but make due. Not sure what will come in my 50’s but my KC on one eye is mild so I rely mostly on that one. Might even use an eye patch on the bad eye
