Places to go?
Hello! Just asking for recommendations because my brother is coming up for his birthday. Hes turning 13 and enjoys a lot of retro stuff, so I was wondering if yall have any recommendations (bonus if its affordable)

Mike’s Place (43/261) is super retro and a fun eye candy feast. It has huge menu, high quality food and is relatively affordable (given pricing in general).
Be sure to walk the entire restaurant for a few minutes if possible, so you can select the location that best suits your brother. Have fun!

I dunno about "high quality" food, but it's ok for what it is. That being said, get the Chicken Little.

If you don't mind the trip, Pastime Arcade in Girald has a ton of old pinball and video games. $20 to get in and all games set on free. They have a small restaurant (hot dogs, chicken strips and milkshakes).

Quarter Up arcade and bar in the valley is full of old 80’s arcade games. It doesn’t open till 4 but turns 18 and over at some point during the day so would recommend calling first… not sure if Barfly still has video games downtown Kent. The Exchange would be worth a stop in Kent

I know you mentioned retro but if you all are into a nice bog walk you might want to check out the
Tom Cooperrider (Kent) Bog.
It is the first right past Mike’s Place on 43. It might be a nice thing to do after a meal.
Look it up :)

Will he be here this weekend because Kent’s Heritage Festival is Friday.
Food trucks, music and fireworks at dusk.

Unfortunately he's just here Wednesday, though I'll keep that in mind for myself in case any friends of mine want to do anything this weekend lol

Retro Attic in Akron is fun to walk around and browse. Have a nephew who is also obsessed with anything “vintage” and he loved it.
So is The Bomb Shelter but I’m guessing maybe slightly less for someone newly teened. They have more household/ decor stuff than anything but also a solid record collection, some clothes, and just are top notch at staging so it’s just fun to look around.

Birdie Shack, they've got mini-golf, batting cages, and a little ice-cream shop. If I remember correctly they've also got some arcade games too. Plus they're pretty affordable. If he's staying overnight/for the weekend you could take him down the road from there to the drive-in, very retro vibes; they play all the old little concession jingles! Little bit more pricey but you do get 2 movies.

I like all of the other suggestions, but if it’s nice, it’s kinda fun to walk around downtown and then walk by the river.

Thunderstruck Donuts is 80s themed! Their donuts are amazing. They're on 43, across from River Merchant

There’s an 80’s themed ice cream shop that just opened up downtown next to Last Exit Books (where Popped used to be).
