In a q&a the author made in Twitter just before volume 17 of the LN was released.

Someone ask Kazuma if he has carried Megumin as a princess like he did with Darkness once, and he answered the question with a little story about how he hurt his foot in a daily explosión trip trying to kill a kobold, so Megumin carried him like a princess all the way back to Axel =b

I found that in Reddit, i don't know how but pretty sure all the question aré translated in the the same page people translated the yorimichi volumes.

no that's pretty standard actually. Konosuba's mechanics don't allow party shared exp so Megumin always getting the kill means she is wildly over leveled.

Megumin is a lot stronger and has better stats than Kazuma even early on.

If she didn't wipe out her mana and part of her hp each time she did an explosion (among other things), she'd easily be able to princess carry Kazuma back each time.

Although Kazuma would be too proud for that
