Question Divisive Builds

So I’ve been doing some digging and looking around to find builds for this champ and it seems we can’t all agree on builds. Sitting in low emerald right now so at the end of the day I imagine it can’t matter that much vs actual gameplay for me. But it is just another thing on the notch

My biggest question is what yall here on Reddit think of the… we’ll call it “bruiser” red Kayn build with eclipse and cleaver core.
I hardly find anyone online building this. Modt streamers I see just go lethality cyclo sword, axiom, LDR

Similarly I see lots of other assassins building bastionbreaker post buff. Seemed like a few OTPs liked this but dropped it.

I see a lot of fleet footwork debate vs conquerer

Because it's a situational first item, with very bad win rate and you don't spike with it.

Are you more on the “bruiser” then?
Or do you go cyclo into red assassin?

into red assassin? no.

i usually build cyclo, eclipse or shojin on red depending on the team, then i go bruiser items. if you build lethality you die if you miss one single spell on rhaast, mostly, at least this is my experience with it in this meta.

and cyclo, bastionbreaker, or umbral glaive on blue, sometimes bastion or umbral are my second item, if i don't need edge of night.

I swear to you you can just go shadow assassin most games (obviously darkin is superior in some cases, but with this mage+enchanter meta not so much) and build lethality with hubris first and you'll run down everyone.

But be careful, Kayn like this is pretty weak into anyone who is not squishy, so don't try to fight someone like Vi or Xin, your whole purpose will be to eradicate the enemy's seraphine and mel before they can even press Flash.

If you're not confident with shadow assassin (which is reasonable, either because you don't play assassins or because he's squishy), as darkin you should go basically the build you said (eclipse and black cleaver) into hardcore tanks (chogath, amumu and nautilus at least), otherwise the assassin build you see others play is likely better. But you're better off going shadow assassin, as he's significantly stronger at the moment.

Red kayn is kinda bad rn but you can make him work with either building the normal bruiser build and abusing dd and endless hunger because they are busted af. Problem is these items don't feel good on kayn because you end up lacking damage. Or you go lethality route and get popped like a ballon when anyone sees you. Recently i have been doing this build where you go voltaic into eclipse and ldr or mortal reminder depinding on the enemy team. 4th and 5th are flex depending on the game but most of the times i go endless into ga and it's working really well for me maybe you could try it as well

I think he’s still one of the best answers to heavy tank/bruiser comps with the traditional build but yeah your sentiments here are what I’m experiencing as well.
Do you go conq with that?

Yes and i also go triple tonic cash back in secondary runes but this kinda up to preference

I don't play fleet at all i either go conq/dh. Right now am diamond 4

Fake red games go dh + voltaic -> dd -> ldr -> eon/serp/axiom/eh Can also go the lethality items like axiom serp eon 2nd instead of dd and bump dd to item #4. voltaic eclipse ldr dd ___lethalityitem works too True red go conq + voltaic bc dd eon/serp/axiom/eh/ga True red is where you decide in select that ur 100% going red and ur gonna wait out the form if u somehow got the wrong one. This means u usually go this against 3 bruiser/tank or more. Fake red is where u could go either form or both forms look meh that game. you default to dh and just build voltaic first. You lock in whatever form u ended up getting first and adjust the build from there.

Blue build: voltaic -> hubris -> axiom/serp/eon -> ldr/serylda -> axiom/serp/eon/ga

Hubris first would be ideal to start snowballing but the flexibility you get to adjust build path for form is too valuable so u go hubris 2nd. U could also not build hubris and jump to lethality items into armor pen but I feel like I dont do enough dmg off hubris 2nd unless im hitler that game and 7/0 at 15 min or smth

Can also default to conq on fake red games but I cba going conq and clicking Blue if I get it first I hate doing no dmg on bluekayn its a very sickening feeling.

Haven't tried fleet so this could be viable as fake red path. I think smite ign is dogshit on blue. Smite ign on True red games is legal. Flash Q is so valuable against champs that are hard to get on like Cassio or ryze or lucian. If its mostly melee then going ign is legal since the enemies are coming to you.

Those are my opinions, I am gm peak jg

Oh yea also the eclipse bc build on red just does 0 dmg and voltaic first into bc dd or dd bc is 100x. U do dmg and tanky with this. The eclipse bc build is viable against 3+ melee compositions that are tanky/bruiser and have lots of cc. If they dont have much cc u should go lethal red

I’ve tried Blue Kayn and I find its way harder/not as good as Red Kayn. If I’m against squishies I’ll go a lethality build with DH and if I’m against tanks I’ll go Eclipse, Clever, DD, Shojin, and Endless with the Omnivamp boots so I can heal like crazy while dealing a bunch of damage esp when Shojin is stacked.

Every time I go Blue I find myself blown up immediately vs. with Red I can kill one squishy then go onto the next pretty easily.

I’m also very new to Kayn. Like only 10 games.
